good for you I guess. I hated the game. I gave the game 1 whole day to take off, but it did not, I returned to the store. Also, I hated the graphics and character models. They all look like dolls. |
Yeah the doll thing was really an issue. But it was essentially bad on Ace and not so on Arumat and Reimi. As I diidn't like the former that and move the latter, I got over it. Still an amazing JRPG overall imo.

Star Ocean 4 was excellent :p |
I don't want to use this thread to bash a horrible game, but no one can possible argue that Star Ocean 4 (not the International Edition where they completed its development) was an excellent game. It has so many technical issues to the point where I averaged a crash every 2 hours. Went through a strecth where I had to play through the same area 3 times. You become less forgiving to the poor characters (disliked all but two), awful voice acting, poor hit detection and collision issues in battle. I went through and got every PA with each character's ending.
Will never put myself through that again.
Ironically, I thought the most hated character was the only one with any redeeming value. I emphathized with Lymle and cared for her, something I couldn't say for the rest of em. That said, I still really like the battle system and it was enjoyable. The poor hit and collision detection was generally only an issue against certain bosses that you had to slide around to deal any damage.

Actually I played only the International version. If remember well, some bosses had a weak point so if you had to get behind them it was part of the gameplay. I kinda liked that because it was challenging (nothing is more disappointing than easy bosses > see FFXIII-2).
Fingers crossed for Star Ocean 5. (i really hope Square is not putting up a week long countdown just to tease some ios or browser crap)

Yes, that's not a bad or even challenging game mechanic. The only problem is the invisible walls and collision detection prevented you from doing so. Makes a pretty annoying game become frustrating became you're able to use the gimmick to beat bosses.
Since someone mentioned the twist earlier, I agree. It was fantastic. Honestly, the game should have ended there. I would have been satisified and would have a completely different opinion. It was just a train wreck right after you leave.
