Forums - Sales - November 2012 NPD Thread - 360:1.26m, 630k<PS3<790k, 3DS:540k, Wii U:425k, Wii:420k, NDS:370k, PSV:>210k

So after the new sources what we have for Halo...

GAME NPD VGC Month / Weeks
Halo 3 3.3 million 2,420,125 September / 1 week
Halo: Reach 3.3 million 3,197,790 September / 3 weeks
Halo 4 3.2 million 3,303,929 November / 3 weeks

Halo 3 and Reach have their first month data way wrong here.

Halo 4 is 3.2m + bundles... so 100k bundles for 3.3m?

Wtf, did Halo 3 sell as much in 1 week as the others in 3??

Yeap... the game was released in September 25th (one week NPD) and it sold 3.3 million.

I put the weeks in comparion to guys here knows what weeks I used to sum the numbers for the first month.

From NPD (I found in google):

"One, Bungie Studios and Microsoft managed to sell 3.3 million copies of Halo 3 last month, despite the game not being released until September 25. Additionally, the power of the Master Chief moved enough hardware to give Xbox 360 hardware bragging rights over Wii, the first time any console has come close to touching Nintendo since the machine launched last November."

where ? I followed the Gaf thread until page 25 or so and the only users mentioning LBP Karting said that they totally forgot that it came out that month.

Under 8k sounds very unlikely.

So with all the different systems nintendo is juggling it was easilly the most successful this past month. I wonder if microsoft could handle all the systems nintendo handes on a monthly basis.

Food for thought!

Microsoft are so much larger than Nintendo that it would be foolish to think they could not. They just prefer not to I guess.

Microsoft manages versions.

If you are at all familiar with them on a corporate level (IT) you're well aware of their life cycles for products.  A product is supported fully as long as it is current, and then for a number of years after a new version has been released.  I believe that's two.  After that, they only will provide support in instances of security concerns (patches).  The same happens with hardware.

For me, Microsoft hardware tends to last forever, so I honestly like it.  The exception to that rule has been their headsets.  Doesn't matter what one, doesn't matter wired or wireless, they just don't hold up for me.

That said, I don't think the DS would still be around.  Not on store shelves.  It would still get first-party games, it would still get third-party games, but you wouldn't be able to walk into a store and still buy one after a year.  If Microsoft launches the Xbox 8 in 2013, I don't expect you'll find any Xbox 360s on the shelves in 2014.  New games, yes.  New hardware, no.  They'll want to move people on to the next platform and encourage sales of those.

The only < 8k I remember was the Vita version of All-Star Battle Royale.

Software resumé

01. Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 (360, PS3, PC, Wii U) Activision Blizzard - 7.5M (We know that PS3/360 accounted for 7.4M, and PC > Wii U. MW3 did 9 million, BLOPS 8.4, and MW2 did 6.1 million. This had one less week than normal.)
02. Halo 4 (360) Microsoft - 3.2M (Reach and Halo 3 did 3.3 million, but with about half or less the days. I'm unclear on if this counts bundles.)
03. Assassin's Creed III (360, PS3, Wii U, PC) Ubisoft - 2.9M (The previous three games did around 1.1-1.3 million in their opening month. This is insane growth.)
04. Just Dance 4 (Wii, 360, Wii U, PS3) Ubisoft
05. Madden NFL 13 (360, PS3, Wii, PSV, Wii U) Electronic Arts
06. Skylanders Giants (Wii, 360, Ps3, 3DS, Wii U) Activision Blizzard
07. Need For Speed: Most Wanted 2012 (PS3, 360, PSV, PC) Electronic Arts - 509K (Hot Pursuit did 417K, and The Run did a fair bit worse than Hot Pursuit.)
08. NBA 2K13 (360, PS3, Wii, PSP, Wii U, PC) Take-Two Interactive
09. WWE 13 (360, PS3, Wii) THQ
10. FIFA Soccer 13 (360, PS3, Wii, PSV, 3DS, Wii U, PSP) Electronic Arts
