Yeap... look which games uses the Bullet... Rockstar and ? nothing more... it's not used. The Bullet Physics project is not new... I used it the first time in 2008 with the R600 (Radeon HD 2000) when it used Close To Metal for ATI GPU (before they translated to OpenCL).

I can't see others games using except GTA V.

Anyway the PhysX support is way better and the Havok is in almost every game you have played (over 200 titles).

PS. I know because that I uses "and" instead "or" the Bullet is wrote in OpenCL for AMD Radeon and CUDA for nVidia GeForce... if Wii U uses the Bullet then it is using both Bullet and OpenCL.

See, I'm not arguing that there are more titles using PhysX and Havok, I'm arguing that you say you don't see people using it yet people are already using it, hence you are wrong and that was the end of that.

yes, you are absolutely right, but it's not 3 Wiis taped together, even if you clock the CPU down to 729MHz running single core, in it's state with more cache, it'd still be faster than a Wii ^^;;;;; nobody is saying it will be as powerful or more powerful than what Sony or MS is going to offer or saying that the Wii U is leaps and bounds above the PS360, but it's definitely more powerful than the PS360 just based on graphical tech improvements alone. Hopefully your denial will be followed by acceptance soon.

I'm not trolling here, I genuinely believe the 1.25Ghz 3 core CPU is going to bottleneck beyond belief and yes I realize it does more clock for clock than the CPU in the 360 and PS3. But I know it doesn't do more than 50% more being realistic. This alone will bottleneck it and cause some serious frame rate problems in complex scenes.

I disagree that GPGPU will be used for anything except physics, if at all since nvidia owns the only decent API.

I disagree that there being a separate DSP for the sound will make any difference to performance, sound processing doesn't take much CPU resources.

I do agree the graphics chip present is superior but not by much, the GPUs in the Xbox 360 and PS3 were basically varients of the very top end available that were being released either at the time in the case of the PS3 or the following January if memory serves me correctly for the Xbox 360. The GPU in the Wii-U is a 2 generations old GPU that was mainstream 2 generations ago. Approximately 2 years ago. It will have some more advanced features than the GPU in the Xbox 360 and PS3 but in terms of actual grunt, I'm not sure that's the case. Hard to call.

There is 1GB available RAM in the Wii-U vs 512MB shared on Xbox 360 or 256MB on PS3. How this will translate into visual improvements is yet to be seen because RAM doesn't improve performance, it just helps keeping bigger areas in memory and reducing the need to load all the time between areas. So it could make games feasible that weren't before, but it won't make them run any better.

The EDRAM is another positive on the Wii-U.

Mixing it all together and what I'm interpreting is highly unbalanced system, with bottlenecks that will make some games just not very good, it will make ports from next gen Xbox/PS4 awful in the way that a port to the Wii is awful from Xbox 360/PS3. It will feel like the Wii-U is the new Wii.

I do not think that the Wii-U can keep up with current consoles either due to the bottlenecks and that ports will always be weaker on the Wii-U to a noticeable degree.

In best case scenario (Turks based) it's some 2x 360 overall. For games like Trine it makes world of difference, since Trine is quite shader heavy game.



Even if it were slightly less capable than the PS360 (which I don't believe it is), looking at the wonders that Nintendo worked with stuff like the Mario Galaxy games, I'm sure we'll all be floored when they finally unveil their big stuff and bring their A game. 3rd parties, not so much.

That's just saying it supports shader 4.0 in hardware, no big deal. It's not fast enough to use it. There's no numbers there just the comments from one engine developer who just so happens to support shader 4.0 in their engine.

Supporting it, even in hardware, and being fast enough to use it are two very different things. It goes back to a comment I made in another thread a week or so ago in terms of a GPU generally supporting a DirectX level 1 version higher than what it is capable of realistically maintaining a decent frame rate - and that's for the high end GPU version of each release.

For the mid-range - don't even bother for any current release.

In the case of the GPU in the Wii-U, we're talking about a GPU that was only mid-range 2 generations ago.

You make your own mind up on that one.

You need to be very careful about hyperbole like this last.



Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

It's at least double and probably closer to 4X the power of PS360. 4X the RAM makes more things possible. The graphics card is far better. People have made comments about the CPU, but it's not all that important for games. The GPGPU means that smart programers will dump most work on to the GPU, and the close connectivity of the two chips makes this easy and efficient.

The end impact on visuals won't be hugely noticible in comparisson to the best current-gen games, but the Wii U will run new engines, which is all that's important. It will be interesting to see the next Mario Galaxy title next year. I think that will be our first glimpse of what Wii U can truly do.
