Those arent first party......I specifficaly say 1st party in the OP

If we're playing the technicality game then none of the games you listed in the OP are first-party, they're all second party, with the first 3 games you listed having some assistance from a first-party team.

Sony's only true PS3 first-party game this year is MLB 12, which sold absolutely fine!

Tank! Tank! Tank! Is a wii u game or a PS3 game?

Wii U.

It was a failed attempt to do a lame joke. I fail at that.

Only a game named Flop! Flop! Flop! could be more destined to bomb than Tank! Tank! Tank!

I dont think it was a bad year for Sony. Remember games that were released in 2011/2010 are still selling very well. If you mean games released this year, then i would agree. Saying that though you will be shocked this time next year when you look at the sales of these games and see that they are all more or less pushing 700,000+.

It always happens with Sony games because alot of them aint front loaded. Just look at the graphs for the playstation 2 collections like Jak/Ratchet/Sly. Just keep on trucking.

Nobody's perfect. I aint nobody!!!

Killzone 2. its not a fps. it a FIRST PERSON WAR SIMULATOR!!!! ..The true PLAYSTATION 3 launch date and market dominations is SEP 1st

One of the biggest myths this gen is that Sony has 'oh so awesome' first party support.
Sony has 3 successful franchises (Uncharted, God of War, GT) then there are games that are hyped up, but don't deliver (Twisted Metal, Starhawk, Sly, InFamous, LBPKarting, PSABR etc.) Nobody would talk about these games, if they weren't exclusive.

So the one and only reason is: These are not good games and they have no appeal at all.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

Terrible games

Around the Network

Average quality in most cases, alongside game concepts which people just are'nt that into. I still intend to pick up twisted metal at some point, I was planning to get that game then just completely forgot about It. I don't it has the power to sell tons anyway,

I stand by PS All stars though, I think it will have long legs!

None of the games are that spectacular

Platinums: Red Dead Redemption, Killzone 2, LittleBigPlanet, Terminator Salvation, Uncharted 1, inFamous Second Son, Rocket League

If you only list what bombed... look at Tales of Graces F (336K so far in 2012 and undertracked), Tales of Xillia 2 (400K in Japan only, just released) and One Piece Pirate Warriors (962K, undertracked).

Those arent first party......I specifficaly say 1st party in the OP

Sorry I just saw the thread title... but yeah pretty terrible year for Sony 1st party on PS3. I guess the big games come next year and they had to deliver on Vita too. Gravity Daze is the best Sony 1st party game in years imo.

Look at those games you listed, those aren't popular by any means.

Twisted Metal - Reboot. It actually sold pretty well considering its a pretty niche genre.

Starhawk - New IP. and its a shooter. Had no chance. Hell even Killzone series which is extremely high quality has trouble selling against the Call of Duties.

PSABR - It's a 2D side-scroller fighting game. Were you expecting 1 million FW or what? For comparison, Street Fighter x Tekken did 119k FW. So I'd say PSABR is off to a good start.

LBPkarting - Another "core" Sony game being spun off to sell to little families. There isn't a big market for family games on PS3 especially not for new IPs.

Ever consider a career as a DJ?

I just love how you spin! :P

How is this spin? The OP explicitly asks why these games didn't sell. You have an odd definition of 'spin' if it means ansewering the OP. I don't agree with some of his explanations but he's doing exactly what the OP asks.

Anybody can justify anything if you look hard enough.

If these games all sold 1 million + im sure you guys would justify that too.

Just say: "Ya....we screwed up. We just didn't buy them". Is that too hard to ask? Just own up to it.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

To be fair all those games suck and nobody ever wanted them. Nobody above the age of 7 will want LBPK.
