Mario outsold play station characters by 3:1

Is that surprising? I have playstation all stars and I am thoroughly disapointed. It won't have good legs.

470,000 own. Wiiu

70,000,000 own ps3

this isn't shocking?

PS3 owners aren't the type to buy games like All-Stars. It won't be a big seller.
Its why games like Call of Duty and God of War/Uncharted sell well on the system and games like Ratchet & Clank seem to flop with each release.

Also of note is the attach rate of ZombiU, which is about 20%, with Black Ops and Assassin's Creed just behind. I hope this keeps up and Wii U will get 3rd party support. There's no reason good 3rd party games can't thrive on WiiU, the Wii just never got good 3rd party.

Mario and Nintendoland will have legs, the other games won't. This is usually how it works on Nintendo consoles, no reason to think it would change now.

The extremely high attach rate for the Mario game should be alarming to 3rd parties.

Yeah, and yet ratchet and clank existed before all of those other games went to the drawing books. Not to mention R&C used to be a flagship of the PS brand.

Yay!!!

I fail to see your point as the system is just about more than 1 week old. Sorry

Edit: Your post seems sarcastic but maybe I read too much into it. But Mario will always outsell the competition regardless of the install base.

Ratchet and Clank Tools of Destruction and A Crack in Time sold around 2m iirc. Don't add to the trend on here that 2m = flop.

I agree. I love that game! :) However, I've read several reports that games this generation need 2 million to break even counting all marketing costs and all :( Well, that is according to Michael Patcher lol

Another proof there are something wrong with these number... GT5 is not even in the TOP100 in the Black Friday week???

Look at the game in the TOP100:

- Donkey Kong Country Returns (Wii)
- Steel Diver (3DS)
- Zumba Fitness 2 (Wii)
- Wipeout: In The Zone (360)
- ESPN: Sports Connection (Wii U)
- Forza 3 (360)

GT5 sold less than these game???

It will completely depend on the game.  Heavenly Sword couldn't break even at 1.5 million sold but Ratchet & Clank seems to have broken even with 1.6 million (see: A Crack in Time's sales).

Even on the PS2, were it had a huge casual audience, Ratchet & Clank never sold like hotcakes.(highest selling game is 3.3mil and this is the first Ratchet & Clank). After that, sales dropped off with each new release with only a PSP R&C game topping it with 3.6m in 2007.

Ratchet & Clank and other games similar to it, are perfect for portables like Vita. Sony should stop trying to bring games like Call of Duty to it.

You see the average PS3 gamer is interested in Mature game. This is proven by sales.

i just can say about steel diver that it was best selling game on amazon for some hours and in the top ten the whole black friday (at least when i looked at the rankings)

the rest, if it's kinect stuff or fitness/sport stuff it makes sense on black friday but no clue what's with forza 3 lol

Sony have to show the truth...

"Sony sold over 525,000 PlayStation 3s and 160,000 PS Vitas in North America during the week of Black Friday (Nov. 18-24), it has announced."

UNDERTRACKED!!! I know that.

There are something wrong with vgchartz in the latest chartz... adjustments every week.
