I personally think Sony would make their games mostly for a Nintendo console exclusively, due to its popularity in Japan, and no fees for online.

Wouldn't make sense, wrong age group. The majority of people who play the PS3 are older. God of War and just does not make sense, thats overkill. Too much blood and I doubt most parents would appreciateit when they buy a  console for the family.

From a japanese market perspective. The japs don't care about GoW.

Who cares? God of War is a first party game which represents Sonys American branch in Santa Monica and the length of the amazing games that come out of that studio. As reggie said in the "Reggie on CNN" post, third parties make those games for Nintendo. God of War Its more well rounded in quality as any hack n slash can be while still in the action adventure genre. The only standing quality in Bayonetta is the hack n slash and nothing more, just like every other Platinum Games title. I play it for the gameplay but I throw out the rest of the experience because it isnt as memorable.

I've never bought a console at launch, so it's a moot question for me. I always wait for software to build up while I happily enjoy PC gaming. I don't mean this to sound like a fanboy comment at all, but I've found that having a gaming PC largely negates the need for an Xbox. I miss Halo, which I'd love to play, but not much else (not a Gears fan). Thus, with a PC, I get the multi-plats, so I'll have no problem waiting until the PS4 is released and has it's first price cut and/or redesign. I'm a Sony fan because of Worldwide Studios and their awesome exclusives, which obviously I can't get on a PC.

Microsoft is probably the one in the trickiest position. They had a year's head start this gen, yet will still finish last in installed base and sales rate and probably in total units sold. This time around, however, Nintendo is out of the gates first, which will almost certainly cut down the 720's ability to build an installed base. How will it fare without the saving grace of a significant head start? It's also the weakest brand globally and mainly depends on third-party titles to push hardware sales. It will be fighting for multi-plat sales with the Wii U it's first holiday season, then probably the Wii U AND the PS4 the next holiday season.

Beyond 2 Souls, Last of Us, Final Fantasy, Tales of Xillia. etc

Those games are to good to pass up in 2013.

Those seem like quite niche titles. The vast majority of PS gamers won't be remotely interested in them imo. It's all about the multi-plats!

Last of us is anything but niche

And i don't think i'll ever see myself getting an xbox, cant see myself paying for online

I think Sony will introduce mandatory online fees next-gen, but that's neither here nor there

Like hell they will!

If anything you better hope Sony implement it's online better than MS. If that happens then MS will have to make their online free if people start choosing PSN over Live. You will have Sony to thank if Live is ever free

A few Sony 1st party games are catered to the japanese, but they're from previous generations. Is it possible that, from a 1st party perspective, Sony ditched japan?

If so, you have a point. However, since the 360 has a more competitive playing field for that market, wouldn't Sony find more opportunity on the only other contender in the market (Nintendo)?

Here I was thinking this thread would be about PS3 gamers buying a WiiU

Instead of some unreleased console we know nothing about

I wish Sony catered to the Japanese. They would be like ten million consoles ahead of Microsoft, but they havent sold much in Japan at all. Yes, you are correct, like many other Japanese companies like Square Enix and Capcom, they ditched Japan. Nintendo never changes so they'll never lose Japan. Sony wants the American dollar.

I expect Bayonetta 2 to launch on PS3/360 later on.. probably with another name.. there is no way it'll remain exclusive to Wii....

I agree. God of War belongs on a console that can't have Bayonetta.

LOL They can have Bayonetta, and besides that game does not represent Nintendo, it represents Sega/Platinum Games. They are trying to get the core to come over to them and I cant blame them for thinking it will work.

Indeed. It's almost like Sony making a kart racer in order to nab some Mario Kart fans. At least it shows an attempt at diversification, but sometimes it's best to stick with what the audience expects.

Yea they successfully did that with Crash Team Racing :)

Seriously man, stop being like that. If you like a game, and there are other games on the platform you might like, stop snobbing.

stop being like what? It happened to Mass effect/Ninja gaiden.. both exclusive xbox/Xbox 360 console franchises.. and then they re launched on PS3 later on.. since it has a large enough install base for higher sales..
