Forums - Music Discussion - Well, It's Official...Gangnam Style Is The Most Viewed Video On Youtube

Not sure why certain people here find it is unacceptable for a kid to make simple pop dance song that appeals preteen girls, and yet a grown man making a simple pop dance song that appeals to preteen girls somehow gives them faith in humanity?!?!

When in the world did you figure that Gangnam Style appealed to pre-teen girls?

Both songs are pretty terrible.

I just looked this up... seriously?

Bieber should be truly stoned for this. It's one thing to have music I don't comprehend, another is to show utter disrespect for a Canadian authority.

Contrary to most of the non-Korean-speaking posters' opinions here, Gangnam Style is actually a really good song, lyrically and stylistically both, especially for K-pop, but I can understand not realizing that if you don't speak Korean.

With that said, I have known about Gangnam Style since before it had even a million views, so while I appreciate the quality of the song, I, too, am quite sick of it. But congratulations, Psy. Let's see if you can pull off NOT being a one-hit-wonder outside the Asian market.

I feel embarrased for people who enjoy Gangnam Style.

I couldn't even watch 30 seconds of the video when it first came out.

You are the answer to every prayer I've offered.

You are a song, a dream, a whisper, and I don't know how I could have lived without you for as long as I have.

Never heard or seen either, they any good?

Gangnam style is catchier than Baby, and that's all that matters... Neither song is good. Lets face it, well written songs with deep meanings will never be able to topple catchy songs with no meaning and bland lyrics/ lyrics not even in your language.

I think it's funny how many people will bash really popular music and say it's "not good." By what standards is it bad? What determines the absolute quality of a piece of art, be it song, painting, film, sculpture, literature, or video game?

Psy and Bieber are entertainers. They aim to entertain people -- and isn't that the purpose of art? You might say the purpose of art is to evoke a certain feeling or deep thought in an audience, but isn't that a form of entertainment?

Either way, it's hard to argue with the fact that Bieber and Psy have both provided a LOT of entertainment for a LOT of people, and I suggest that that is its own accomplishment. Whether you personally think their songs are good or absolute trash, they have provided countless hours of enjoyment for millions of people around the world. I think that's the definition of admirable. It's not like Gangnam Style even condones doing drugs or murdering people or anything. It's a pretty silly song. It's just for fun, and fun is pretty okay.
