Forums - Sony - If I dood it, I'll get a whoopin. I'll dood it.

Where will you go if the Playstation brand comes to a end.

I will game with Microsoft. 13 13.98%

I will game with Nintendo. 24 25.81%

I will go with another alternative. 16 17.20%

I will go Retro. 4 4.30%

I B E L I E V E 36 38.71%

Total:93

I'll go to whatever destination has the types of games I prefer.

I thought PS3 at first, but went with Wii. Later went another direction because I realized my JRPG titles were going to the 360. Then they became assholes and dropped that and caused me to change focus. Hard to stay somewhere where they tend to continuously change focus.

This time I wait. I won't make a choice for years. I am not wasting my hard earned money on companies chasing profits rather than chasing fans like me.

The ones who caters to me in the end is the only one who gets my money.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

I went with "I will go with another alternative." because I'll go where the Sony franchises (games) go. IMO, their titles will most probable go to a Microsoft console. It seems Microsoft has a "better handle" on pushing hardware than Nintendo which I see could be an attraction for Sony. This could ultimately be a "I will game with Microsoft." decision, but I've been also wanting to customize a PC for gaming. So we'll see. But as I mentioned in another thread:

"...the PlayStation namebrand is one of the better things (if not one of their best) going for them. So for them to get out of the console market would be most improbable."

It just doesn't make any sense for Sony to give up PlayStation anytime soon.

Please define "pushing hardware", we are on a sales site after all, and Nintendo's current console is currently quite ahead of the competition by almost 50%.

The Xbox 360 is a more powerful console than the Wii... for example.

I'm glad you clarified, because we usually use that in relation to pushing hardware to the consumer, ie sales.

As for Sony's insistence on performance hardware, that's a new trend for them as of the PS3, and didn't lead to much for them.

Not sure what their next strategy is.

While I don't think PlayStation is going anywhere I would go PC, then Nintendo, then Microsoft.

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

And BTW, this thread is guaranteed for the Worst Title of the Year award.

This.  Why would you pick such an obscure and irrelevant title if it were a topic you actually wanted people to vote on and discuss?

To answer, if there were no new Playstation home console, I'd probably do a mix of sticking with 'retro' gaming and playing on PC.  I am forever behind with games I want to play, it would be a good time to catch up while the other two stabalised so I could see where they ended up.

That said, I'm not going to make any contingency plans because I don't think there's any need to, for the time being.  So I voted for the last option.

PC. Can't really see myself playing anything else.

I'd just stick with my ps3.... Plenty of games on it.

Currently own:

  • Ps4

Currently playing: Witcher 3, Walking Dead S1/2, GTA5, Dying Light, Tomb Raider Remaster, MGS Ground Zeros

Sony's gaming business is just fine. I don't understand these articles. While there have been rough spots over the past 4 years (on different fronts of gaming) Sony has managed to keep things afloat and even saved the PS3 and PSP from absolute demise.

The problems Sony faces with the Vita is the stigma it created soon after it launched (it having the same port-itis, Plus terrible games like CoD: BOD doesn't help either).

I game on all systems and own countless pieces of hardware. So it isn't like I wouldn't have another option. I will say that my gaming time would be greatly cut back though. If not almost nonexistent.

I would probably go PC and then switch to Microsoft after the price had fallen a few years later. Although that might happen next gen anyway, I don't know enough about the consoles to say which I would choose.

I don't understand why that last option is in your poll. If we are to believe your hypothetical situation, and the Playstation 4 does not happen, then the last option isn't necessary because it is impossible. It just seems like a disingenuous jab at Sony fans in an otherwise well thought out and interesting thread.

EDIT: Also yeah you might want to think about changing your thread title.  I had been avoiding this thread for a while because I didn't know what was going to be in it, then decided to click when I had finished reading all the other threads in the Hot Topics

Platinums: Red Dead Redemption, Killzone 2, LittleBigPlanet, Terminator Salvation, Uncharted 1, inFamous Second Son, Rocket League

Whichever console gives me the most enjoyment is where I will go. Not loyal to Sony if they die, they die.
