Forums - Sales - Halo 4 vs Gran Turismo 5

Wow, I've never seen anyone complain about a game releasing a goty/dlc edition. At least come up with something reasonable, like the fact that its a somewhat unfair comparison due to the fact that Halo 4's sales will be affected - at least to some degree - by the release of the new Xbox.

Its very common for a quality title to release a goty edition. This excuse ppl are using just seems a little ridiculous.

@kowenicki

I really don't understand why you're calling ethomaz crazy on this topic. What he's saying is a common concept for gt5. Gt5's total development cost was $60 million, and out of that gt5:P was also released without any extra cost (bc its just the gt5 "early/incomplete" edition).

He's not saying gt5 had no development cost, just that its almost LIKE it had no cost bc the money made on prologue covered the cost, allowing gt5 to be pretty much all profit.

And I actually don't agree with ethomaz's statements saying gt5 to gt5:P is the same as halo 3 to halo 3:odst. From what I understood, halo 3 and odst are 2 completely different games with 2 separate development cycles and budgets. So this isn't the same thing at all.

Oh, and @ji99saw, no need to get so worked up over things that matter so little, especially when the other person in the conversation is being civil.

I don't think anyone is complaining about that they released different versions of the game. I think the problem is the extra bump in sales they get because Halo doesn't do GOTY edition. If you are going to compare sales you do it with the original material. GT5 vs. Halo 4.

That's like saying Pokemon is a bigger franchise than CoD because its games have sold higher in the past. The past is over, the present is what counts!

So if GT5 outsell every Halo this gen then it'll be the biggest for you?

Anyway Halo need more 2 or 3 10 millions games get GT franchise.

Ethomaz...GT5 is NOT gonna overtake Halo 3.

Halo 3 is old news. The past doesn't count. We must stick to the present. Since Halo 4 is still in its infancy, we can use Halo Reach to gauge how large Halo is. Coincidentally, Halo Reach also released around the same time as GT5, giving us an even clearer comparison between the two. If GT5 outsells Reach, then I would say Gran Turismo is bigger than Halo in terms of fanbase.

Just remember that Reach has sold over a million in digital copies. Sooooo nah Gt5 wont make it

Also Reach doesn't have Master Chief, a small yet important detail. Also given how Halo 4 will sell 7+ million by years end, its very possible that it could pass GT5 by end of 2013 :)

We have no accurate and precise data for digital sales. So we don't know just how much more Reach sold digitally. Just like we GT5 is undertracked. But we don't know by how much. Same for Reach. Both have sold more than what VGChartz has, but we just don't know by how much. Point is, we dont know. Crying murder because it apparantly has 1m+ digital sales is frankly a sore losers excuse. For better or for worse, just go by Vgchartz numbers. Its unfair to games on both sides, but just take em as they are and deal with it.

Just like we don't know just how much more GT5 sold when taking into account how much it's undertracked. Point is, we dont know. lol I got you and you dodged it with a witty reference to me. Your talking about fanbase, yet only want to count retail. That sir, doesnt mix.

I do however have a practical solution. For a holiday bundle, think a clean million is a safe estimation. Or we can measure how much Forza 4 is selling since its retail and apply that number to see how Halo Reach did.

We know that GT5 and Halo Reach have sold more than what VGChartz have shown (via digital sales and undertracking). We don't know by how much they are undertracked. For better or for worse, we should just go by VGChartz numbers. I have nothing else to say on the matter. Anything else you say is just sore loser talk.

Good Day.

Does GT5 have a digital copy for sale? If not, then lol I got you.
