oniyide said: LMAO @ Homer's post, Batman is a bad port? That game was damn near perfection when it came out a year ago, they could have done a straight port and it would have still been a great game. NG 3 was crap, now they just made it ok, it still doesnt hold a candle to Batman. Not a question about the better game? So he should buy a game knowing its worst? Wow |
I didn't say that. This is about making a statement. Taking a stand. Showing support for hard effort and rewarding effort. Batman may be the superior game in the mind of a few people, but the consensus is that the Ninja Gaiden developers put more effort into NG3 RE than the others put into Arkham City and that is the support I want to see on the wiiu. If people like you would join the cause, we would have more Ninja Gaiden 3s and less Batman AC and Mass Effect 3s.

BAC was a good-enough port. The slight problems come in coding, but they put in all of the DLC and really tried on gamepad features. Straight Right, BioWare, and EA just sort of pissed all over Wii U users.

Make a statement? screw that. DOnt spend your hard earned money to make a statement, how well did that work on WIi? Buy the game that you believe will give you the most value. How about we reward the devs that put in more effort and got it right the FIRST time? If we are really trying to make a stand. To compare Mass Effect 3 port to Batman is an insult to Rocksteady and WB and it shows me that Homer might not know what the hell he is on about.

No, i agree with you. I restrict my soap-boxing to the internet for the most part, and buy the kinds of games that i enjoy (which just happen to be predominantly Nintendo games).
Perhaps i should watch some "let's plays." I want to see how the stealth elements of BAC are implemented, as i find stealth to be a very hit-or-miss game element, that when implemented poorly can be a real damper.

Batman Arkham City "stealth" elements is the core of the game and is really quite nice. Open ended problem solving using wide variety of tools and environment. The game wont "fail" mission just because you alerted goons. You just can't take bullet attacks and survive so best to at least take out the armed goons carefully before you go into action game mode. Having played on PS3 and Wii U... as I said there are some + points and some - points for the Wii U version.
The game has high learning curve for you to really start to love it and the Gamepad does make it more easier if you know what your doing controls wise, but it also exposes a lot of early confusing options and details before the game has got around to explaining those during the earlier progression of the game. See the game basically starts you with all the upgrades you would have got in first game... so this isn't like Metroid Prime where you lose abilities and have to re-gain them. In PS3 version it doesn't make you use some of those features until they intro within game, while Gamepad exposes the options earlier. This makes it harder for new players to grow into the game. Story wise also the game assumes you played the first one and know whats up. You get some details on past game by paying attention to radio chatter or listening to goons talking to each other during the game but there is no intro recap type video.
The other down side of the Wii U version is that some of the areas or situations the Wii U version has too much bloom lighting or poor textures happening. As you may know, the Wii U tends to display 3rd party game ports more bright and vibrant. This is a plus point for Call of Duty Black Ops 2, Assassin's Creed 3, and also Ninja Gaiden. Those games look better on Wii U (my opinion, but also others online have compare videos etc about it). Anyway, in Batman the color tones or bloom lighting or something... there is something a little off in some of the areas. You will notice it and find it to be ugly graphics sometimes. In door areas are generally just like PS3 but outdoor areas sometimes just don't look right. I don't know if you would notice that if you havent played PS3 and I presume same for X360 version of Batman... but I do.
