It finally updated, I stuck in Blops 2 and now it needs to update :( screw this HD gaming crap with all the updates and downloads, I'm going to plug my wii back in.

I'm not hardcore enough for this.

Ah, but just think after that update you can play for hours on end with no updates!

Played some blops with pointer controls, awesome, just like wii but with HD graphics. I can see myself putting many hours into this thing. Still have to try Zombie U, AC3, nintendoland and SMBU. Not enough hours in a day and I have to go to some 2 year olds b-day party now. Goddamed casual 2 year old babies ruining my day of old man nerd video game heaven.

More initial impressions:

Gamepad: I live in a townhouse that has 4 total stories (3 full stories and 1 loft). The game pad was functional in 90% of my house with the exception my second bedroom (the console is located off center from the room) and the upper most tier of the loft.

Train wreck, can you answer these two questions?

1) so I heard the U pad drains the battery very quickly...if I want to, can I turn off the image on the pad screen so only the TV is displaying the game?

2) if I´m not using Wii remotes, only the U pad, do I still need that sensor bar?

Thanks!

2. No as far as i can tell im playing NSMB U away from the Wii u in another room and no sensor near by

2. Right now im doing the play on the pad test to see how long the battery lasts, so far im been playing the game since 11:45am est no battrery icon yet.  As far as the question, the wii u pad is constantly showing something on the screen, you cannot shut it off to view only the TV while pad is in hand.

Follow to above question.
On the game pad options you have the ability to choose power-saving mode (dont know what that implies) you can also reduce the screen brightness and turn off rumble which most likely increases the battery of the pad

Damn casuals...

I'd be intrigued to hear opinions on ZombiU in particular now. It sounds so...marmite-y, and that's a concern. Why? Why does it have so many varied reviews?

A crazy world.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

My son was with me when I set the remote feature and thought that is was too cool that it was setup in a matter of seconds.

Stop hating and start playing.

edit again (learning as I go I apologize): Yes you can turn off the display off the display of the gamepad

Can you download games from the disc to the console?

Thanks, Train wreck!

Good to hear, if the game I´m playing only uses the pad screen to show exactly the same thing as the TV, then I definitely want that screen off to conserve battery.

Really? That's quite...unusual I guess...

Is there any games which can be played solely on the Gamepad? The E3 2011 demo showed Chess, for example.
