Do games take longer to load if you play them from your HHD?

doubtful, the xbox and ps3 both massively benifit from installing and playing games from the harddrive. Put it like this, how fast do your pc games load ? :D not many of those playing from a dvd.

Right, but those games are normally installed on the HDD in the actual PC. These are external Harddrives, so they need to go through a USB too. Planning to get a Wii U in the summer, I'm just trying to see figure out whether I should wait till they announced a newer version with 250GB? 

The won't be another version with bigger space that's what the external HDD option is for, the USB and such should be fine the shouldn't be a massive difference in load times if the is at all.

nice no more getting ripped off with inflated game prices down here everything for my wii u will be downloaded digitally especially with that 10% back deal deluxe owners get

if you go full digital and you by anywhere near as many games as i do i'd bet 1Tb doesn't last you to the end of the gen.  i've filled my 500 Gb on my ps3 and i still buy all of my games physical when i can.

OT - wishlist!!  now that nintendo did it i can finally look forward to sony copying that!

It does look pretty clean and simple to navigate.
