One of the worst movies of the year. The story may have been better or deeper than past James Bond movies, but I don't care about that stuff. I watch James Bond for the shooting, fighting, and the driving, all of which were garbage in Skyfall.
Spoilers from here down
The only scene that was on par with past Bond moves was the opening sequence. After that, the action went supremely mediocre. The fight in he building was extremely short and wasn't very good either. Then he went to some Chinese club and shot a few dudes and got in a fight, but again, that was over in a few seconds because the mutant crocodiles did all the work. He then killed a few guys on that deserted island, but again, the entire action scene was over in a few seconds. The only prolonged action scenes were the opening scene and the ending scene. The opening was alright and the ending scene was trash. I'm probably missing a few scenes, but it's not my fault they were forgettable.
The ending scene was so terrible. The entire showdown when they were in Bond's old home was just stupid. Like a typical C-level popcorn flick, the bad guys kept walking in to the house, while Bond and his friends took them out with ease. And like those cheesy popcorn flicks, the enemies never have the ability to aim decently for some reason. Seriously, throughout the entire movie were the most inept enemies I've ever seen. Bond had super talent and accuracy, while it seems like the enemies had just then put a gun in their hands. It was terrible. The only good action scene was the beginning.
And the absolutely final scene, where Bond killed the psychopath (I forgot his name), that was the worst of them all. The antagonist had the blonde lady (I forgot her name) right in his hands. He could have killed her right then and there. But for some reason, he bitched up and said only she could kill them both. He then pointed the gun to both of their heads and put the lady's finger on the trigger, telling her to shoot. Then there was a moment of silence as you wondered if she would pull the trigger. Then...surprise! James Bond comes to save the day. During the scene, Bond was never stuck at any place, so the audience was never worried that he wouldn't show up. They didn't even try to make it seem like Bond wouldn't make it. Most predictable moment of the year, perhaps.
Spoilers end here
For a Bond movies, it was only 10% action, mostly bad action at that. The rest was just filler. Some say the story and emotions were great. I have two things to say to that. Firstly, who goes to a bond movie for a deep story? Not me. Secondly, the story isn't that great either. Sure, it may be better than past Bond movies, but when comparing it with movies that try to convey a deep narrative, then Skyfall just seems weak. It could have been excellent at what worked best, instead it was only okay as it tried something entirely different. I wanted to see a Bond movie. Instead what I got was an okay story with extremely short bouts of mediocre action sprinkled in between.
