I pirated several PS1 games unknowingly (Honest).

Years ago, this guy had a videogame store in my neigborhood that sold "Imported" games from the UK and Japan. They were $20 a piece and he even installed mod chips for free. I first realized that they were pirated when I bought Monster Rancher 2 and Xenogears from him. The games played just fine, but I noticed that the Cd print on the games looked really familiar. I couldn't put my finger on it for months until I looked at an old PSM magazine (I used to collect them). The CD print for Monster Rancher 2 was from an advertisement for the game, and the Xenogears print was actually from a Zone of the Enders ad with Xenogears typed over the original image. He abandoned (or got shut down) his store not too long after though.

Some good things did come out of the situation though. He mistakenly sold me and my brother real copies of Legend of Dragoon, Tales of Destiny 2, and Dragon Quest 7 for $20 each, AND replaced the cd drive in our PS1 for free.

P.S. I'll fight Jesus in the street if it means I can continue to pirate porn.

I am the Playstation Avenger.

This. I'm sorely tempted to get a SNES emulator just for EarthBound.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Yeah, I pirated design software. I was at uni, it was expensive, i couldn't afford it and no one was willing to buy it for me.

I learned the software, got a job because I had knowledge from the software and have since spent a small fortune with the company for many new versions of the software.

Hell, i even told the support guys at the company i use to pirate their software but when they look at what i have since spent and registered with them they didn't complain.

I am not ashamed of this. Because of it i have a job I enjoy, pay my taxes and make an honest living. The company has benefited a lot more from me financially simply because I pirated their software in the first place.

Here and there yes
The PS1 and 2 era had so much GOOD games no person that isn't bill gates could have afforded them all.
Especially all those J-RPGs you couldn't get in Europe at all and an import did cost around 200 Euro.

Since this Gen its rarely happens - Sometimes on PC.
I earn my own money and games in this Gen became garbage mostly.Sony Exclusives are a must buy and thats it.
PC games from Blizzard get support,DICE cause they love PC and don't sacrifice quality cause of the console version*cough* Crytek *cough* and here and there games like Skyrim cause of Steam and its easier to mod them this way.
I stopped supporting developers that destroy their well known franchises cause they want to get the attention of the Call of Duty Community and such crap. Not interested in that. They all can shut down their companies.
I rent the games, finish them in 5 hours and that did cost me 1,20€ for the day. Those aren't even worth the 1 hour download.

Kinda weird - In old gens you waited so long for the download to finish cause everyone got bad internet and now where you have 100MB/s down for cheap you don't really need it at all.

Yeah, I should clarify my original post-- if you can't buy a game then I don't really count it as piracy.  If you're downloading an SNES emulator to play Earthbound, I don't count that piracy since there really isn't (and likely never will be) a way to legitimately buy that game.

Of course now that many retro gems are readily available, downloading Super Mario Bros 3 and other NES/SNES/etc gems is little more gray.  I download those, but then again, I still have my cartridges for those.

Yes, I pirate SOME video games. I have pirated crap load of PS3 and Xbox 360 games but not the Wii. I still have the ORIGINAL Coleco, NES, SNES, DS console and cartridges.

PS3 and Xbox 360 I pirate because I have my beloved gaming PC (best investment ever)

I've gamed on PS3 for a while and every game I own is in mint condition. Respecting developers.

I still have my signature. Ban me please.

I'm not some sort of criminal. I only pirate music and the occasional movie like most honest people.
