Forums - Gaming - Samsung Galaxy S III keeps the top spot in British smartphone market in October

This site is fully of Apple Fanboys, they won't show up in this thread.

Quite subjective I'd say. I see people who use one or two Apple devices and like them and people who use Microsoft or Samsung, HTC, whatever devices and like them. It's way more quiet between these people than on other sites where silly arguments are made up just to make a point while ignoring the obvious flaws of each system.

Galaxy S III sells better in British market. Nice. Ok. So what? Going crazy about it would just make you a Android/Samsung fanboy / Apple hater and no better than the others. Actually, I wonder when the time of Samsung ignorance begins. Every successful company has - I wonder why - millions of sales but 98% negative talk on the internet. It's so awesome, this little virtual world.

Also, the main point seems to be price. The price doesn't matter much in many countries because it's all with contracts = free phones. Then it's just a matter of taste. And whatever point you say against one company can surely be said about the other as well. Be it because of the hardware or the running OS.

I been gone from this site too long, it was a lame joke, responding to why people weren't coming into the thread.

It's because every iPhone owners knows the galaxy SIII is a better cooler phone that's worth the money. while the iPhone 5 is just a slightly better version of the 4s and the 4s is just a slightly better version then the iPhone 4

As an iPhone owner apple need to step it up, or lower there prices.

The iPhone 5 is just as powerful as the Galaxy in a package around 2/3rds the size of Samsung's flagship. I consider that "stepping it up" quite a bit.

If you're talking about iOS, then I somewhat agree but hardware-wise, the iPhone 5 is the best thing going right now.

Hardware-wise, my Galaxy Note 2 would disagree with that statement ;)

I beg to differ.

The guy sitting directly accross from my desk has an iPhone 5 and we compared them.

In real world tests, my Note 2 blew it out of the water.

Lol yes... But the iPhone 5 isn't a piece of shit tbh. I know 3 people with the s3 (all former iPhone 3GS/4 owners) and all of them hate the phone. Bar 1 who says he willingly made the mistake of wanting to try the s3 the other 2 it was basically forced apron them in the phone shops.

Also the iPhone 5 probably sold all more, as your new article is not sales of the device. Oh dear

Its a FACT that, yes the CPU in a Note 2 is better than the A range of chips in Apple products, but in reality when GPU performance comes into it, it's the total opposite.  Apple have designed their chips to include extremely powerful GPU's as most of modern applications require extensive use of the GPU rather than just the CPU.

Geekbench tests CPU and Memory performance combined but not GPU performance, so although the the iPhone 5 is 20% slower in Geekbench tests, the iPhone 5 blows the Note 2 out the water when it comes to GPU performance, which to be honest is the REAL test people want the results from.  It is generally double as fast and sometimes even more.

Prediction (June 12th 2017)

Permanent pricedrop for both PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro in October.

PS4 Slim $249 (October 2017)

PS4 Pro $349 (October 2017)

Well I can only go off what I've seen in front of me.

In everything we did apart from the camera app opening, the Note 2 was quicker than the iPhone 5. Sometimes by a fair margin.

Did you reboot the phones, close all apps, and do all the required things to make sure that one of the devices wasn't already running applications in the background? It takes a lot less time to "open" an app if it's already stored in memory.

The first time I open the Facebook app on my iPhone, it takes a little over a second to open. If I'm calling it from memory and re-opening it, it's instantaneous.

This is why "real world" tests often fail. People don't take the time to control the test and just use the devices as-is.

Foxconn claims iPhone 5 demand is too high to handle

Foxconn chief Terry Gou, in a recent interview, spoke about the iPhone 5, and claimed that Foxconn is not manufacturing iPhones as fast as Apple would like it to.

According to a report by Reuters, the demand for iPhones is too high, and Taiwan's Foxconn Technology Group said the company's flagship Hon Hai unit is having a hard time coping with it.

Foxconn Chairman Terry Gou said, “It's not easy to make the iPhones. We are falling short of meeting the huge demand.”

This tends to happen whenever Apple launches a major new chassis design. The new design will require parts to be machined to some strict new specification and it takes time to get the equipment tuned to run efficently. I remember that to build the aluminum shell of the original iPad, Apple ordered a huge shipment of prototyping machines. In other words, equipment designed for R&D, not mass production. It took some time for Foxconn to get them producing efficiently.
