I know this game is like, ooooold. But I payed it for the first time this week, when I purchased the BFG edition for the 360. It's actually a really refreshing game. It plays a bit like Half-Life or F.E.A.R., but on the other hand it's still classic Doom. I love how the game introduces "new" enemies, which are, ofcourse, actually the same old enemies (imp, demon) but now they are actually scary. Enhanced or not, the graphics look amazing even compared to many other games nowadays. The lighting and dynamic shadows are especially intense.

The only thing I really don't like is that the weapons so far pack too little of a punch, and the enemies hardly do you any damage, which reduces the tension compared to if you were able to kill enemies faster and they could kill you faster.

Anybody else experienced this game recently? They don't make shooters like this anymore.

It was already outdated when it came out back in 2004 (everything but graphics) and today it's even more outdated. Graphics included.

I will buy it for the PS3. I never completed it on PC back in the day.

Doom 3 is outdated, yes, but in a good way.

I'd argue that its "outdateness" makes it fresh to play. It lacks all the unnecessary fat modern shooters have and it has a great pace.

It's amazing how much Doom 3 influenced the Dead Space franchise. To this day, Doom 3 remains the scariest game I've ever played.

OT: I still like to play old games that were incredible back in the days so I know that feel.

I got this game day one for the 360. However Im yet to play it cuz I played the original Doom first. Old school Doom rocks. May get round to playing Doom 3 for the first time soon, after I play Doom 2 again that is.

I have been debating on getting the BFG edition as I really enjoyed Doom 3. Are they making a fourth? While it maty feel dated, there aren't games made like doom anymore and there should be. Its a fun game.

I was actually looking forward to getting this because I've never played the Doom games. Then I learned that the only game they really reworked was Doom 3, and my interest plummeted.
