Kinect is the commercial success, Move is the technical success. Again, technical success means nothing if it has no games just like the Vita. The 360 always loses to the PS3 the majority of the year and in the 4th quarter pulls itself together at black friday and Christmas.

No but i don't see the gap increasing much above 2 million this year. Maybe next year, it will happen... As games like COD and halo may have gave Xbox the lead by less than 100,000 in both weeks and these are the bigger weeks too.

The question should be can PS3 close the Xbox lead by next Autumn?

I don't believe it's true. All I did was estimate the worst case to go against Sony's best case. Obviously the real number is somewhere inbetween. My whole point, from the begining, is that nobody knows for sure how many Move enabled PS3s are out there, but it surely isn't 15m. I find it amazing how many people have twisted my words and disregarded their meaning.

Sony hasn't put out a best case scenerio, they have only told us how many Moves have shipped.  As for my estimation (technically ioi's), it is the middle ground.  A best case for install base would be if every person only owned 1, which would make the install base ~14M.

How is Sony's shipped numbers any different from the best case? Best case is that every Move sold was to a unique user.

It's like all you want to do is argue so you'll twist what others say so you can.

You really don't think Sony's not going to announce they sold more PS3's then X360? It's going to be heard around the world.


They might annouce it, but how much attention will they get, that is the real question.

It has 0 chance to even be on par for sales during the holiday season... It won't catch the 360 by the time the neXtBox is out. Game over.

Technical success?...as in it actually works as opposed to Kinect in many cases?

In which case that's ridiculous because you don't say a product is a success purely for "working".

It doesnt really matter if the PS£ does pass it, the Xbox 360 will always be considered the greater success.

i dont see what relevance this actually has to anyone, Nintendo lagged behind Sony during the ps1 and ps2 generations yet came back with the most underpowered console of this gen and pretty much won it several years ago, even if sales of the Wii had stopped completely Nintendo have won this gen easily, maybe it was a good thing to keep knocking Sony this gen as next gen they might go back to concentrating on game play rather than graphics and power.

Sony have not done poorly this gen at all, they cam in late (even later in Europe) and still managed to get a fairly successful console into peoples homes.

Microsoft has also been very successful with the 360 even with the disaster within the first few years with the RROD among other problems they finally got the 360 sorted, although not as powerful as the ps3 the system made up for this with some amazingly playable games.

the game is certainly not over at all and its all to play for till the next gen actually arrives so till then carry on gaming.

Nope look at sales of Xbox when halo was released and bo2 sells more on Xbox too.
