Thanks to Hurricane Sandy I will have to pick mine up tomorrow...it seems all the reviews scores listed are decent to great, it's the 5.5 that brought it down.

Oh yeah? Well, you probably like Dan Brown novels, too! I hate you! |
I don't tend to read, but I remember listening to an audio book of one and enjoying it....
I definitely enjoyed the Da Vinci Code movie, though not necessarily because it was good

Where's the line between utilising the features of the console and claiming that anything beyond buttons is bad? For example, Super Mario Galaxy. If I wanted to pick up star bits I had to point the Wii-mote at the screen. If I wanted Mario to spin I had to shake the Wii-mote. Flying that bird thing in SMG2 required holding the remote level and tilting it (and it was horribly unresponsive) I hated all of these things. I am one of those people who just likes playing with a traditional controller in my hands. But did that sully my experience with the game? Did it balls. The game was fantastic in spite of these things. I'm fully willing to concede that if AC3: Liberation just isn't that good, then it isn't that good. Framerate issues and whatever dragging the game down. I haven't played it so I cannot form my own personal opinion. But where is the line drawn where you look past 'new' forms of control and review the game as a whole? Are we going to be getting Wii-U reviews next month saying "Touching the screen for control is the best thing ever!" or are they going to be as tough on it as they are being on Vita? I suspect the former, but we'll have to wait and see. |
this to like the 10th power.....

Critics just don't know what to do with the Vita. On one hand they review its games like console games while on the other hand they review it like a handheld.
Judging off of LBP's 88, Rush's 83, and Uncharted's 80 a 75 for Liberation is fairly good. On an unbiased and fair scale it would be a mid 80s.

Eh, I seem to have remembered things wrong. I couldn't find anything about Capcom directly discussing Revelations' sales. However, if you read between the lines a little bit, you can find something in this 6-month-old interview with IGN.
First of all, the producer of the game mentioned that, "The incredibly positive fan reaction to Revelations has definitely given me motivation to make another 3DS RE title," and, "Hearing players say how much they enjoyed Revelations does kind of make me want to forget the other projects and get stuck right into making another RE game for fans to enjoy." Now, he's not talking about sales, but I don't think he'd be interested in a sequel if he perceived the game as a relative flop.
The more telling bit, though, might be this:
When we conducted our interview, Revelations had just debuted in Japan and was the #1 selling game in the country. Noting that this game had a more old school, survival horror focus than other Resident Evil games, we asked if this commercial reception encouraged him to continue this approach with future installments.
"Of course!" Kawata told us. "Game development is always a very taxing process, no matter what the project, and the only thing that gets us through is the belief that, at the end of the journey, there are people waiting to enjoy the game. So if a game sells particularly well, then we have good reason to make more titles like it."
I don't think I'm reading too much into this to conclude that RE:R's producer said that the game sold "particularly well," or at least well enough to merit a sequel. Of course, as mentioned, the interview took place immediately after the game's debut, when all he knew about was the first week of sales. But he liked the looks of that first week.

Seems like a good start for the AC franchise on Vita.
75 average isn't bad. For some reason handheld games tend to have lower averages. I'm still getting the game when it releases here.
No troll is too much for me to handle. I rehabilitate trolls, I train people. I am the Troll Whisperer.
But with 75% reviews it can not be the Vita "killer app". I think Sony expected and hoped for much better reviews.

The majority of Monster Hunter had some 6/10 7/10 reviews.
