Show me one example of a storm of this magnitude and scope not being reported on.

Floods, Power outs everywhere. Tons of trees and debris in the road, and my undisturbed basketball hoop for four years was knocked over. That's where I cross the line. FUCK YOU SANDY
But seriously. This shit is scary here in Cleveland. Lake Erie poored over on our shoreway highway, Power outage led to potential water outages, and almost every school in the area is closed tomorrow. The rain hasn't stopped in about 24 hours (literally). And this isn't even the center of the cyclone. (OP needs to be fixed, it's catagorized as a cyclone, not a hurricane)
I just hope to god a branch doesn't fall on my car. I parked in the one spot available. No one would park there. Maybe it's because it's next to the biggest tree on the road.

I'm very fortunate the power didn't go out on our residential street... despite almost every other street being out in the vicinity.

Been watching the Weather Channel for last 3 hours.
I believe the worst of over now.
I live directly in the path of the hurricane, and it's not so bad here. It's really windy, but that's the worst of it. A lot of rain but not a lot of flooding. We didn't lose power. It's REALLY bad by the coast, but seems pretty alright once you get 30-40 miles inland.

I think it's safe to say that every hurricane that makes landfall is reported on pretty extensively? Hurricanes are also much more rare in the northeast US than in Florida or Louisiana. Sandy and Irene (last year) are the only two I remember affecting us to this extent in the past decade. They've also been saying that this is the first time on record that a hurricane has collided perpendicularly with the NE coast, and the first time since the late 1800s that the NYSE has closed for two days due to weather conditions. Basically, it's a pretty big deal all around, and there are not "loads of storms like this," at least in this area.

Actually, no, It's a hurricane and 2 other stroms merging together, they are saying it's like a once in 180 year storm. It's left people frozen dead in the tropics, and hitting the USA and some major cities hard.
Usually, I find just American Citizen that are so myopic.
(PS if it combines with the Big Windbad Donald Trump, it would be the doom of us all - lol)
For anyone who's affected by this, I want to give you reassuring words by telling you that this evening I spent a lovely, warm day at the beach. The sky was perfectly clear blue, the waves were calm, and the temperature was just perfectly warm.
From southern California I send my condolences to you all and hope that you find comfort in my comfort.
