This post on GAF rounds up everything on the topic:

This seems to have taken off on Gaf. This article summarises the first half:
Basically, Robert Florence wrote an article for Eurogamer questioning the close relationship between video games journalists and in his original article he quoted some Twitter comments from games journalist Lauren Wainwright. Apparently, MCV (who Lauren works for) complained, (rumoured to have threatened legal action) got the quotes removed but have also forced Rob Florence out of Eurogamer:
I'm sure you understand that, with it being amended, I have to step down from doing the columns. Thanks if you ever read any of them.

I'm as proud of the Eurogamer columns as I am of anything I've done in gaming. Again, thanks to @tombramwell for being one of the good guys.

Also, don't blame Eurogamer for this. The threat of legal action brings unbelievable pressure. I am clear on who the bad guys are in this.

All of that is by itself pretty bad but not surprising. I've questioned games "journalism" for a long time and my personal opinion is that most of the journalism is simply enthusiast media (which is essentially just extra PR for publishers). However, MCV's response seems to have only fanned the flames.
Part 2 of the story is the other horrible side of the games industry; mass gamer rage! Gamers have now bombarded Lauren's twitter account with a torrent of abuse to the point that she's now in virtual hiding. Much as I disagree with her, this is a bit much.
Seriously, how immature is our industry? What do you guys think of all this?
