Forums - Sales - Current games in top 100 all-time best-sellers list.

So Wii already has more games in the top 100 than the GC had, and the DS has already got more than the GBA.

DS will surely get more than the GB eventually (unless each new game pushed out another DS game) and the Wii will surely end up with more than then NES/N64 (SNES has a low number it seems)

The 360 might get 1 or 2 more (though depending on how many more Wii/DS games make it, it might lose Gears of War)
The PS3 will probably get a couple, perhaps 3 (GTAIV and GT5 are the sure-fires... FFXIII might make it, but it could be pusshed out later as older Wii games pass it)

---Edit: @68soul. If Liberty City Stories makes it, it won't stay there very long because other games will push it back down. and I very much doubt any currently selling 360 or PS3 games will make i because they are all too far away and will be passed by future hits such as GTA etc.

Around the Network

I think Twilight Princess may have been a little bit overtracked, so it might be farther away than it looks. It had only shipped 4.3M at the end of last year.

There's a ton of games coming out in the next few months which could make a run at the list.

GTAIV PS3 is the one I most want to see. MGS4 will be interesting too. Just because of the install base, and because PS3 doesn't have any hits that size yet.

Wii has Brawl, Kart and Wii Fit, but Fit will be a long burn. Kart looks like it will make it out in all regions before Brawl, so it may have the advantage in getting to 5M or so sales. M&S has legs, too...

360 has GTA... Later this year it has Gears 2... But I feel like I'm forgetting something...?

DS at first looks like it will have a hard time of getting more games on the list, but then again the legs on games like SM64DS and BBA are insane. Maybe PH and MPDS will have similar legs?

PSP's GTA: LCS has actually made it onto the list and been knocked off, and that will probably happen again. Weird to have a 30M selling console without a 5M selling game...

Maybe you should make a list for each area too.

Yay , the PSone holds the record ... Man , why cant LCS get into the top 100 :(

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

Hmm... Some bumps up for GBA and GC games on the list recently.

12. Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire 15.42M
Bumped back above GTA: San Andreas by a tiny margin, for the last-gen (single-platform) sales crown. I betcha SA takes that crown back.

24. Pokemon Firered/Leafgreen 10.57M
Bumped ahead of Super Mario All-stars and (for a moment, at least) Wii Play.

48. Super Smash Bros. Melee 7.08M
Bumped above 7M, back into the all-time top 50, back above MK:DD as GC's best-seller, and above Tekken 3 as the all-time best-selling fighting game.

49. Mario Kart: Double Dash 6.96M
Bumped.

60. Super Mario Sunshine 6.28M
Bumped back above Galaxy for the moment.

Wait? SSBM is 7.08M? Then it is the most selling GC title ever!

I let this go for awhile because I thought numbers would be better post quarterly financial reports.

But the American numbers won't be revised until the weekly sales actually come out, and at this point, who knows when that's going to happen? At this point I figure I'll just wait to see some more sales for Mario Kart Wii, Wii Fit and GTAIV.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl has broken into the top 100, however. And Zelda: TP, as I mentioned on my post of March 6th, was overtracked, and isn't on the list yet. COD4 (360) is flying up the list to #67, but may have been overtracked starting in March.

Nintendo current-gen now notably holds 7 of the top 25 games of all-time.

Pokemon FR/LG has shipped over 1M in the last year and so will jump up the list a few spots. GTA: SA (PS2) has retook the top spot for last gen from Pokemon R/S.

Lastly, a couple older games which I've seen big sales repeatedly reported:
Pac-Man for Atari 2600 is said to have sold about 7M, enough for a top 50 spot.
Donkey Kong for Colecovision is said to have sold about 6M.

Space Invaders, surprisingly, doesn't seem to have sold nearly in that range. But there are likely a few other pre-NES games that should still hold top 100 spots.

Perfect timing.

Here we go:

99. Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories 4.85M
This should keep hovering around the 100 mark

94. Big Brain Academy 4.95M
This has shipped over 5M, and shipped 1.5M over the last year. It should keep climbing well above 6M.

92. Super Smash Bros. Brawl 5.02M
This hasn't totally slowed down in America, and will jump up again with the European release. Should make a fairly fast run at Melee's 7M and the top 50 overall.

91. Mario Party 8 5.03M
Here's a thought: If Mario Party 9 goes the balance board route, this game could get an extra year of legs.

86. Gears of War 5.14M

67. Call of Duty 4 (360) 5.75M
Might finally be slowing down, but could still catch MoH: Frontline

64. Super Mario 64 DS 5.90M
Has shipped 6.12M! Moved 1.38M in the last year. If the legs have lasted this long, it could move another 1M this year.

58. Super Mario Galaxy 6.33M
Basically tied with Sunshine. Has slowed down some, so 10M might be a year away.

43. Halo 3 7.66M
According to VGC, sales still lag significantly behind shipments of several months ago. Could have been overshipped, especially with COD4 stealing its thunder during the holidays, but could also be undertracked.

32. Animal Crossing: Wild World 9.30M
Now the last of the DS's "big 7" below the 10M mark.

28. Mario Kart DS 10.36M
3.42M shipped last year. This title could reach 13 or 14M, or higher.

25. More Brain Training 10.91M
Shipped 6.5M last year due to the Western launches.

22. Wii Play 11.67M

19. Brain Training 12.77M
Received a major bump thanks to the sequel launching, and is now selling as fast or faster than the sequel in Europe. A stone's throw from 15M, and even SMB3's 17.28M is in sight!

18. New Super Mario Bros. 14.18M
Another game aiming at SMB3's record total, with over 4.5M shipped last year.

16. Pokemon Diamond/Pearl 14.58M

8. Nintendogs 18.23M
Any other company would have milked this game to death by now, with a dozen sequels across Wii, PC, DS and PS2. Nintendo haven't given a hint at how they might continue the brand of the biggest game since Pokemon G/S. Has already passed SMB3, of course, but it won't be recognized as record setting until a game with a single SKU, like NSMB or Brain Training does it.

6. Wii Sports 21.90M

Great thread, but you really need to add together the numbers for games that are released on multiple consoles.

Too much work and too much gray area.

Too much work especially given the lack of good PC numbers here or anywhere.

And too much gray area given remakes. Where do you draw the line between a remake and an all-new game? And what about compilations?
