| Bodhesatva said: Need to update WoW. There are over 10 million subscribers now. I don't really care how that's happened or what the site says, having 10 million paying players right now (let alone in the 3 year history -- we'd probably be talking 15 million at a minimum, but that's guesswork) can't equate to 9 million copies. Just silly :p |
The subscription number counts bulk subscriptions for cyber cafes and other establishments in Asian countries that don't strictly follow a retail store/boxed game model. That's how subsciptions can be above sales. I have no idea how sales ought to be counted, so I'll stick with what VGC lists.

Common LCS ... get some respect for the PSP , even if its a 99th posititon respect ;)
Vote the Mayor for Mayor!
Nintendogs doing fantastic. Really amazing game. My gf adores it and has a dog named after each of my close friends. Great comic value right there.

no I just took the word differently than you. PS2 games are still currently in the top 100. |
Don't change my meaning. PS1 games are obviously not "current games." List the numbers for FF12 or other PS2 games from the last couple years if it bothers you. I was obviously listing current gen games and fairly recent PC games.

Mario Party 8 Edition!
#98 Mario Party 8 (Wii) 4.76M
The new newest game in the top 100. Before this game, the highest selling Mario Party was the original, with 2.7M copies moved; it is now third having been passed by Mario Party DS as well. MP8 has also already sold 90% of what MP5, 6 and 7 sold combined. This is the Wii's fourth game in the top 100.
#97: Big Brain Academy (DS) 4.80M
#89: Call of Duty 4 (360) 5.03M
The 360 version alone crosses the 5M mark, and is about to pass Gears of War. The bulk of the difference between this game and Mario Galaxy comes from Galaxy's Japan showing; everywhere else, a dead heat. Rival franchise Medal of Honor's top game, MoH: Frontline for PS2, may actually be in sight at #59 / 6.29M. Passing that mark would be a sign of ultimate victory for Activision over EA in the shooter genre, in their quest to be the top 3rd party publisher.
#87 Gears of War (360) 5.04M
Then again, Gears of War has also recently passed 5M, and is about to pass the original Resident Evil at 5.05M. So it is still living up to unreasonably high expectations, even if CoD is thumping it. The gauntlet has been thrown in anticipation of Gears 2.
#66 SM64DS (DS) 5.76M
#62 Super Mario Galaxy (Wii) 5.95M
Not surprising, but Galaxy has officially bested Sunshine's lifetime sales of 5.91M. The top 50 is in view, less than 700K away.
#46 Halo 3 (360) 7.37M
#34 AC:WW (DS) 9.05M
Crosses 9M.
#29 MK:DS (DS) 9.73M
Sits one position and 140K sales below MK64 to become best-selling MK game yet, and 270K short of being the 9th Mario game to sell 10M copies.
#27 More Brain Training (DS) 10.25M
As anticipated, breaks the 10M sales mark; obviously the 27th game in history to do so.
#25 Wii Play (Wii) 10.41M
Also breaks 10M, and breaks into the top 25.
Brain Training and Wii Brand become the 5th and 6th franchises to have multiple 10M selling games, joining Mario (8), Pokemon (6), Grand Theft Auto (3), and Gran Turismo (2). Those 6 franchises account for 23 of the 27 10M-sellers.
#19 Brain Training (DS) 12.11M
Passes Super Mario 64, leaving it on the cusp of the top 20 all-time! BT knocked GTAIII out of the top 20.
#18 NSMB (DS) 13.48M
#17 Pokemon D/P (DS) 14.01M
#9 Nintendogs (DS) 17.62M
#7 Wii Sports (Wii) 19.68M

Go Mario Party 8! Come on Big Brain Academy! Get into that list!Come on Twilight Princess! Get in there!
Where do you have your list from? Is it simply the million sellers on Vgchartz? Maybe you could add how many games each system has in it, and stuff like that. Then we can see if Wii can beat GC in games in top 100, and that stuff. If you'd do it, this thread would go from 78% to 82% on Oyvstats.com (Ps. does not exist.)

Here you go...
for Nintendo home consoles: NES: 8 / SNES: 5 / N64: 8 / GC: 3 / Wii: 4
for Nintendo handhelds: GB: 12 / GBA: 7 / DS: 9
for Sony home consoles: PS1: 17 / PS2: 14
for Microsoft home consoles: XBox: 2 / X360: 3
for Sega home consoles: Genesis: 1
for PC: 7
No PSP, no PS3 yet...
And an incredible 56/100 for Nintendo... Sony has 31/100... and the 13 last are for the others...

"A beautiful drawing in 480i will stay beautiful forever...
and an ugly drawing in 1080p will stay ugly forever..."
Future newcomers in the Top 100? The # 100 is at 4.69 million, so...
For Wii?
Twilight Princess is very, very close, at 4.67... should be there in a few weeks, it still has good legs... next is Mario & Sonic, 3.38... maybe in a few months, too... and of course, Wii Fit, Mario Kart and Brawl should be quite successful this year...
For DS?
Phantom Hourglass is next, at 3.72... it will be difficult... maybe Mario party DS if it has good legs, now at 3.18, still a long way to go...
For X360?
Forza Motorsport 2 is at 3.64, and Assassin's Creed at 3.49... who knows, but very unlikely they will join the group...
For PSP?
Liberty City Stories is very very close, just as Twilight Princess, so it will be the first PSP title in the Top 100... and the only one for a long time, as next one is Vice City Stories at only 2.34...
For PS3?
The best so far are Motorstorm at 2.78, COD4 at 2.52, Resistance at 2.39 and Assassin's Creed at 2.31... maybe a future hit, but for these, no chance even with good legs...
For PC?
Spore should have a chance, if it isn't over-hyped...
