The new newest game in the top 100. Before this game, the highest selling Mario Party was the original, with 2.7M copies moved; it is now third having been passed by Mario Party DS as well. MP8 has also already sold 90% of what MP5, 6 and 7 sold combined. This is the Wii's fourth game in the top 100.

The 360 version alone crosses the 5M mark, and is about to pass Gears of War. The bulk of the difference between this game and Mario Galaxy comes from Galaxy's Japan showing; everywhere else, a dead heat. Rival franchise Medal of Honor's top game, MoH: Frontline for PS2, may actually be in sight at #59 / 6.29M. Passing that mark would be a sign of ultimate victory for Activision over EA in the shooter genre, in their quest to be the top 3rd party publisher.

Then again, Gears of War has also recently passed 5M, and is about to pass the original Resident Evil at 5.05M. So it is still living up to unreasonably high expectations, even if CoD is thumping it. The gauntlet has been thrown in anticipation of Gears 2.

Brain Training and Wii Brand become the 5th and 6th franchises to have multiple 10M selling games, joining Mario (8), Pokemon (6), Grand Theft Auto (3), and Gran Turismo (2). Those 6 franchises account for 23 of the 27 10M-sellers.
