Asynchronous multiplayer. Look it up. |
Ohhhhhh. No thanks.
I might get a console on Ebay with no Wii U gamepad. Then its 4 player local ere we come. Which is the whole reason Id get one in the first place.

Um yeah I watched a few trailers. And thought Id give it a go. But not having 4 player with the gamepad is a major WTF? For me. And only 1 controller working at launch is even more WTF? Tese last 2 things I did not even think I needed to question in this day and age. |
Okay then
.
Also, the Wii U is sold at a loss as it is, after all. Now imagine if they included a 1 TB HDD... That would be disastrous for Nintendo.
| selnor said: You assume alot. Except for the part I may have alot of indisposable income right now. Be careful when you judge. You never know what your missing in the grand scheme of things. I didnt research these things also as I never expected the Gamepad to be not needed to play all local multiplayer games. Therein lies another problem. Wats the point of the Gamepad. Nintendo as always been about fun with family members. The gamepad does not fit that model. |
Save yourself the trouble. Go do some research. Games still use the GamePad for single player games. (a few will use the Wii remotes in single player with support from the GamePad). Multiplayer games have gamers take on different roles. 1 gamer with the GamePad plays a different role in the game from the remaining 4 gamers.
If you are asking these questions and coming to the conclusions that you have, you've not seen much about the console at all.

Which, actually, is kind of fair, because most in-store buyers this holiday season, at least those buying a console as a gift, are going to be in the same boat. All I can say is, I hope department stores train up their staff in regards to the Wii U, otherwise there will be some irate customers who are told they'll need to buy two Wii U tablet controllers for their kids to play together. |
Yes, I hope that too.

You still need a GamePad.
Never mind.
Trolling. Absolutely has to be trolling. Did you read a similar troll thread at another site and think it would be funny to do it here?

I really need to look into this. So in the new smash bros 1 player does what, while the other does what? I really dont get it. Or COD. Does one drive aircraft while another is on foot?
Mario Kart, 1 throwing items, 1 driving etc?
I'll have a look at it all properly tonight.
I must admit, Im very concerned and shocked by all this actually. Im not sure how Call Of Duty and Mario Kart etc will work with multiplayer that way.

Whats your problem?
For years Nintendo pioneered local multiplayer. Now they appear to change it completely. If there was 1 thing I was 100% sure of 2 hours ago it was local Nintendo multiplayer with Gamepads. Now I'm lost.
All of the games won't have asynchronous multiplayer. Mario Kart and Smash Bros haven't been revealed yet, so we don't know what they'll do with those. COD is still COD. You can opt to use the Gamepad for local multiplayer as an alternative to splitscreen, or I believe you can still do splitscreen if you want. You can ignore the gamepad entirely for Mario if you want and play good old 4-player local multiplayer with Wii Remotes. And you should check out some Nintendo Land gameplay...

Go watch some trailers, man. That will answer all your questions. All you're doing is confusing yourself further, making wild assumptions, ignoring what most gamers have long come to know about the console and coming off like you've made one hell of a troll thread.
Multiplayer is still there. Now it's been enhanced with asynchronous game options. Think one player as Pac-man and the other 4 are ghosts and you'll start to get the idea of what can be done. Imagine a sports game where the GamePad user is the team manager or coach and the other 4 run the plays. Or a fighting game where 4 players are going at it with the 5th player using the GamePad to control the stage environment traps or fallen items, etc... Or a FPS where the GamePad player is the squad leader directing the other soldiers, managing weaponry, calling in reinforcements, etc....
