Whats your problem?

For years Nintendo pioneered local multiplayer. Now they appear to change it completely. If there was 1 thing I was 100% sure of 2 hours ago it was local Nintendo multiplayer with Gamepads. Now I'm lost.

Go watch some trailers, man.   That will answer all your questions.   All you're doing is confusing yourself further, making wild assumptions, ignoring what most gamers have long come to know about the console and coming off like you've made one hell of a troll thread.

Multiplayer is still there.  Now it's been enhanced with asynchronous game options.   Think one player as Pac-man and the other 4 are ghosts and you'll start to get the idea of what can be done.   Imagine a sports game where the GamePad user is the team manager or coach and the other 4 run the plays.   Or a fighting game where 4 players are going at it with the 5th player using the GamePad to control the stage environment traps or fallen items, etc...      Or a FPS where the GamePad player is the squad leader directing the other soldiers, managing weaponry, calling in reinforcements, etc....
