Only in the sense that I can play the best of last generation in HD this generation. I've replayed more last gen games this year then games from this gen. A lot of genres are almost absent this gen, 3D platforming and rally racing especially.

Although it's getting close if I look at my personal top 50. ps2/gc/xbox stands at 15, ps2/wii/360 at 12 entries. Maybe if this gen drags on another couple of years it might edge it out.
That's excluding pc though, which was a lot better last gen.

I don't think so to be honest. PS2 was just an insane force when it came to quality and fun games.

For me yes it has some of my favorite games and series. Assassin's Creed, Mass Effect, Red Dead Redemption, Fallout 3 and Fable 2, this gen just had more games I liked is all. Last gen was fun but had fewer games I liked.

Both gens have been good to me, but this one trumps the last one in games in my opinion.

I think actually what happened this gen though is PC + console merged into one. Back in the day, something like Half-Life 2 would not be a console, but on the PS3/360 era things like BioShock and Portal were on consoles alongside the PC version.

It's kind of a toss-up for me, especially while excluding PC and handheld games. Ordinarily I'd probably go with this gen, but... well... I played a bit of Lair for the first time today, and... I just can't let that go right now.

If I compare the top 5 for each: (IMO)

1. Resident Evil 4
2. Metroid Prime
3. Shadow of the Colossus
4. Okami
5. Twilight Princess

VS

1. Super Mario Galaxy
2. Super Mario Galaxy 2
3. Bioshock
4. Mass Effect 2
5. Uncharted 2

I'd give the slight edge to last gen here, but this gen would probably win a top 10.

3 good gta's

last gen had extreme sports genre peaking

open world/ street racing genre 4 good NFS's so far for me no NFS game has yet to surpass last gens games

2 MGSs within 3 yrs



its not that this gen sucked but it was to focused on shooters and cinematic TPS as well as the PS exclusives taking to long GT, TLG, agent ect. but to make up for it ND and the other sony exclusive studious step it up
