I have no problems with Sony and I don't want to see them fail out of the market (MS either).
I just like to argue in Sony threads to piss off certain Sony fans. =p

Honestly, I think what has happened in regards to Sony vs MS is hilarious, & Sony deserved a taste of its own medicine.
Sony intruded on Nintendo & other pure gaming companies, and now a bigger bully has taken over. Nintendo is a pure gaming company, Sony never was. Sony came in and basically stole ideas and made it their own. That didn't sit right with me, it was lame as ****, can't respect a company like that. Its like the NY Yankees always buying world series rings. I was on the young side of SNES vs Genesis, but Sega was always innovating, look at Dreamcast and all their ideas. They've always had my respect. But Sony and MS, IMO are abominations to the industry, and yes, I too am guilty in supporting them (gamer 1st, fanboy last).
I hated Sony when I found out yrs later it was supposed to team with Nintendo for a disc based console. I disliked N64 b/c of its cartridge, so I've been a Sony "hater" (but I still played and bought consoles, blame friends influence) ever since. I'll be LMAO when they exit the console market.

I was feeling bad for Sony while reading through the thread and then I read this. O_o
It is sad for any game company to fall imo, they all have added much to make gaming so fun.
I also feel like Sony is running out of steam. Yes the coming of the Ps1 brought alot of good things to the industry, Ps2 was great but I feel like Sony can't bring anything new to the industry. They don't seem to be able to innovate anymore. All they did this gen is copying Nintendo on many fronts and playing catch up with Xbox live by adding features brought first by M$ (trophies for example). The only answer they seem to be able to find is ''more power''.
Seriously, can anyone tell me what Sony added to gaming this gen? The only significant contribution I can credit them is LittleBigPlanet that is truly groundbreaking thanx to all the power they gave the to the community... But even that I'm not sure If i should credit it to Sony or the Studio who came up with the idea of the game... They bought so many devs but still only few of their first party games feel unique.
Yes, more competition is good, but with Sony only being able to answer the competition by copying others and then adding power to other's idea I wish they would just leave. And if them leaving could encourage someone new that would truly contribute with new things to the industry to enter the race and fill Sony's place that would be great. (altho I doubt it because of all the doom and gloom talk around consoles I doubt anyone new would step in, but who knows? maybe that paticular newcomer would have the answer to ''revive'' consoles, even tho I don't think consoles is going anywhere.)

...On Wii U?

Care to elaborate?

For me, the best videogames and the only competent online service I don't have to pay for. And that's what I needed this gen.

While they did not innovate anything at all hardware wise. They always delivered on original and creative content like Journey, Flower, The Unfinished Swan, LBP and soon Tearaway and Puppetter and Rain.
Sony copied nintendo on what? Motion controls have been there since Eye Toy, the plans started back in 2000. Sony also popularized casual gaming, invented the music genre. All the casual products you see on the market are thanks to the Eyetoy, Singstars a,d Buzz we saw a decade ago.
Not to mention Sony's biggest innovation: PS+
