Is... is that sympathy I smell all over the OP?


As a Nintendo fan, you disgust me.

Sony's hardware isn't particularly innovative and similar alternatives can be found elsewhere (aside from handhelds, but does anyone believe they'll make another handheld after the Vita?). Software is where all the awesome stuff comes, predominantly of course the games but services like PSN and PS+ are great too. If Sony were to "die", the hardware obviously wouldn't exist, but for reasons stated above that wouldn't really be a big deal, especially considering the creators behind the software would still exist and I'd assume for the most part still be in the industry - I'd still be able to play their games.

That said, I'm so ingrained and in love with PS culture that I would hate for it to go, and without PS systems and Sony, that culture disappears.

i like when things i dont like disappear, i dont like modern Sony (much less Msoft), see i loved PSX and also PS2 (although not that much, the GC was too awesome), but PS3 and the whole HD generation just has pissed me off,
if Sony keeps this path (cinematic "mature" games), i wouldnt mind them to vanish from the Console market (i dont care about the other things they do)
of course i would love to see Msoft absolutely OUT of the industry NOW, i just cant stand Msoft

Not really, I don't even remember the last time it happened to a major franchise in the time I've been into gaming. Remember that I don't only own Sony systems, at the beginning of this gen I had a 360, and now I have a good gaming PC, so even if a Sony franchise I like suddenly became exclusive to another system, chances are I'd want that system anyway and this would just be another reason to buy it.

As a fan of gaming its said to see Sony in the state its in, but most of it was self inflicted, hopefully (and I am sure they will) they will learn from the early mistakes of the PS3 and current mistakes with the Vita and produce something admirable. The videogame crash of the mid 80s and Sega leaving the scene hardware wise are revelations to me that the videogame business can withstand huge hits.

Wow, I didn't spot that poll.  I guess that pretty much answers the question I had.

Although I played RE and GTA games on PS since the PS1 days, I never thought of them as PS franchises and I didn't even care because I was like 7-12.

I like WWE. I'm a fan of CM Punk and I hate John Cena (not really. Just trying to make a point). Anyway, I want CM Punk to win but not because John Cena is a weak pushover of an opponent. I want Nintendo to win. I don't want Nintendo to win because Sony has been out drinking the night before, and can barely stand. I want a fair fight where two champions walk into the gaming ring and the winner is decided because one side brought their "A Game" a little stronger than the other. Nobody likes a blood bath.

I used to have a PS1 alongside my N64, I also have a PsP and a PS3.

That being said, it's a weird feeling I'm having cause the Ps3 has been my 2nd console of choice, or atleast my console of choice for 3rd party games. That being said, I found Sony extremely arrogant this gen. Launching a 700$ machine claiming that it's because it is by far the best machine on the market, claiming to be special cause they focus on useless things like 3D and now 4K resolution... Statement from Jack Tretton about the WiiU such as ''Welcome to the club, HD was 2007 for us'' barely 2 years after shamlessly ripping off the Wiimote. The constant fact that they think so highly of themselves despite ripping off SSB, Mario Kart, the Wiimote... Blasting the DS/3DS claiming that they were to weak to be competition to the PsP/Vita (wich was proved false :P), and finaly I heard them claiming so often things like ''Unlike Nintendo, we do mature gaming, Ps3 is for grownups wii is for kids, blahblahblah bullshit bullshit...''. So Sony completely lost me this gen. I keep playing on the Ps3 cause it is indeed a great machine, but I only feel disdain towards Sony as a company.

I would'nt mind seeing them leave the hardware race and go back towards a 2men race like back in the days with Nin vs Sega, Ninty having the handheld market all by itself would'nt be a bad thing since it was that way back in the days of the Gameboy and we had great games at the time, + they would still have competition against smartphones... One thing is certain, next gen I will buy a Wii U, and if I choose to buy a 2nd console, I'll go with Xbox8 over Ps4. First party games are'nt as good, but it has way more services and atleast they had the decency to try to contribute to the gaming industry with something new like Kinect instead of just shamlessly ripping off the Wiimote. And when M$ has an idea, they stick by it and support it, Sony only make ppl buy useless stuffs and then give up and stop supporting their ideas (they gave up on the move, gave up on the eye toy, seem to be giving up on 3d, and abandoned the PsP and I'm expecting them to do the same with the vita)

So to answer the OT, yes, Sony's struggles amuse me, if that makes me a terrible person so be it.
