Microsoft's Major Nelson has announced that over 100,000 people used Xbox Live to watch the 2nd Presidential debate last night, with viewers responding to over 70 polling questions in real time. In all, Xbox Live users submitted over 2 million responses to poll questions about the debate, with an average of 35 to 45,000 answers submitted per question. Of the over 100,000 people who viewed the debate through Xbox Live, approximated 2000 declared themselves undecided voters.

Of the roughly 2000 undecided voters who participated, 51% declared Obama the victor, 17% declared Romney the victor, and 32% were unsure. Among undecideds who leaned Romney before the debate, 19% thought Obama won. Among undecideds who leaned Obama before the debate, 2% thought Romney won. After the debate, 28% of the undecided voters declared they leaned or would support Obama, while 10% declared they leaned or would support Romney.

Among undecided voters who watched the debate on Xbox Live, 52% felt Obama was most truthful during the debate, while 17% felt Romney was most truthful. For undecideds who leaned Romney, 22% felt Obama was most truthful. For undecides who leaned Obama, 2% thought Romney was most truthful. Overall, 52% of the undecided voters thought Obama was specific enough about his plants, while 17% thought Romney was specific enough about his plans.

The fourth and final debate before the election takes place on Monday, October 22nd, and will also be broadcast on Xbox Live. This will be the third and final presidential debate. Viewers who watch three out of the four debates this election year via Xbox Live will receive a free set of Halo 4 Warrior avatar armor.

i would also watch that on xbox live as american. i mean, you get a halo avatar costume for that if you watch minimum 3 or so of the 4 debates or whatever. HALO!

100,000 does not justify me having to suffer the horrible new interface. By the way, you can watch the debates on your TV without having to pay for cable or satellite, or Xbox Gold, it's free; the debates were on at least 6 different channels, and in multiple languages, and in immaculate HD, did I mention it's free?

So what was the purpose of this again?

Wrong. You don't have to be a Gold member to watch the debates, it's completely free. There is an Interactive poll only on xbl; it plays in HD(even though there is really nothing to watch), and you get free Halo avatar armor if you watch 3-4 of the debates. I don't know if you can watch it in multiple languages, but I'm sure it has subtitles. If anything, watching the debate on xbl is the best way to go if you have that option.
