Why are Polyphony and Sony wasting all their time making GT5 run on 4 PS3's at a higher resolution?????????????????

This worries me. Hugely. Turn 10 did the 3 Xbox thing for a reason. Actual 3 screen gameplay and its in the disc product we all buy from the stores.

This is an absolute waste of resources and time.
Now we know why GT5 took so long. Polyphony were running GT4 in 1080p on 4 PS2's. But no one ever had it in their homes because the TV's weren't out yet and the patch was never released.

POLYPHONY STOP SCREWING AROUND AND WORK ON GT6. MAYBE YOU MIGHT GET MY MONEY AGAIN IF IT IS BETTER THIS TIME AND COMES IT WITIN THE NEXT 10 years.

Obviously, the entirety of Polyphony (and Sony, since you mentioned them) had to work on this setup for an entire year to achieve that.

/sarcasm

But I understand you just wanted to plug your unwavering love for everything Microsoft once again.

Keep dreaming all you want.

This is stupid. Just work on GT6. Thats it simple. GT6. Id be pissed at Turn 10 as well if 3 years after Forza 4 they said ey look Forza 4 in uber HD on 4 360's. Id be like um and thats great because..................... Wheres Forza 5 you lunatics.

Ok, maybe you don't realise it, so I'll spell it out for you.

It doesn't take much for Polyphony to make GT5 into this 4K demo. Quit the overreaction already. And in the doubtful possibility that the whole of Polyphony had to work on it, what tells you that the results aren't actually shaping up to become what will be GT6?

And you're fooling no one here. If Turn 10 did a uber tech demo using Forza 4, you'd be drooling over it as if it was the greatest achievement in the history of mankind.

They did in an actual game called Horizon. You know improved graphics with new content. A new game. a game. An actual game.

Nope, they didn't. Turn 10 didn't develop Horizon. Playground Games did.

Try harder.

I know they did. But turn 10 developed the grapics engine further not Playground games. Its in many interviews with Turn 10, that they had alot of halp and influence in the Horizon game. Mainly the game engine though. Again putting their efforts into actual game making for Horizon whilst making Forza 5 is exactly what we want from amazing developers.

Polyphony have a small team as it is. They need every precious moment they can get. They spent as long as they did on GT5 yet still only managed 200 premium cars and sparsely detailed scenery. Even after the game released they have been trying to up the framerate and remodel more cars. Not great for first party development. Its probably one of the worst development of a game Ive seen in a long time. It is still being patched.

I honestly dont think GT6 will come before 2017.

Higher resolutions is not on the top of my list for improvements I really want in next gen hardware.

It's in top of my list because I think the currente resolution have so many jaggies... I expect at least 90% of the game in 1080p for new gen.

I meant I don't really care if console gaming resolution is pushed beyond 1080p.I'd rather they use additional resources to put out more split screen games.

I think its safe to presume most games will be running at 1080p next gen. Resolution alone isn't to blame for the jaggies.

yeah, 1080p on a 20in computer screen if no antialiasing/limited is applied still results in jaggies.

I think jaggies will be present on consoles for the forseeable futures, because developers have a choice of really cool particle effects, more draw distance, more things on the screen etc, or getting rid of jaggies at the expense of visual flair.

Obviously there's a balance that exists today. On consoles For instance I think uncharted uses 2xMSAA. Other games use a bunch of different techniques like FXAA, or MLAA. And the quality will improve as a whole. But I wouldn't expect them to just magically get rid of jaggies altogether.
