We have canines for a reason

This if humans where meant to be purely vegetarians our teeth would look a lot different.  But it would be better for the enviroment if we all where vegetarians.

If it is, I don't want to be right.

I'm not sure why, but I've always pictured you as the type of guy who eats hundreds of pounds of meat a day. It's probably your avatar.

Why is it wrong? Is it wrong for a Lion to eat a Gazelle? Or was it wrong for the Sperm Whales of Madagascar to kill all the dodo birds? Should we force Lions to eat grass in Africa?

Of course it is not wrong.

Please don't try to compare animal morality to human morality. Using that logic, people would be free to walk around naked, shit in public, kill others for stepping on our territory, etc.

The only reason we don't do those things,is because of the order of law, society are whatever you want to call it. Even, then those still happen from time to time if you think about it. You could argue that humans are just super intelligent animals. I personally think it's all a grey area and it all comes down to what you personally believe in. If they out-lawed people eating meat, then you'd have a different story.

Is the human mouth capable of ripping through animal flesh with any practical efficiency? Serious question, as I don't know.

Regardless though, even if it was natural for us to eat meat, that doesn't make it right.

We aren't meat eaters, we are omnivores.

We evolved to be able to survive by eating both pants and animals. That's why we have the teeth for both tearing and chewing meat and grinding veggies, nuts, etc. We digest some plant material more easily than raw meat, but we evolved based on cooking meat which helps break it down.

I agree that the corporate farming of animals often mistreats animals. You can avoid that by buying local meat and animal products. Real farmers and ranchers don't mistreat their product because they have a respect for the life they help grow.

I personally only respect a vegetarian's choice if it's for health reasons. I still disagree with their opinion on what's healthy to eat, but I respect their choice. I don't have any respect for people who refuse to eat meat because they thing baby cows are cute. The wolf cares not if it's prey is cute and we should not either. Humanity is alive today because in hard times we were able to eat meat when no edible vegetation was available or vise-verse.

People need to get out of the bubble that separates nature from today's human. Cities hide the wonder and truth of our world and the way life works. To live you must take life. That is the cruel truth of our existence. Regardless of how modern life makes you feel we are part of the circle of life. Everything eats something else. We are at the top of that chain and because of that we are the Earth's stewards. People forget that sometimes. It is our job to maintain the world and it's creatures. Hunters are the first to fight for the preservation of wild lands because they want to maintain nature so they can harvest from it. Family owned ranchers graze their herds on open land and BLM lands. They don't cram them into feed lots where disease spreads like crazy.

My point is this. You should not question whether eating meat is right or wrong, but instead find ways to eat meat that doesn't contribute to the mistreatment of animals. Believe me there are plenty of ways to do that.

Absolutely not.

Easy.

I had a full English in 1st class on the Virgin Pendo train on the way to London this morning, I particularly enjoyed the Lincolnshire sausage, bacon and black pudding. Perfect start to the day.

Yum.

What's a full English? Perhaps you could ease up on the UK jargon?

It's hardly UK jargon, I know many people outside of the UK that know what a full English breakfast is. You don't know what a full English breakfast is?

Nom.

its a proper sausage (not that shite spicy German or American crappy flat sausage), egg (over easy), grilled tomato, proper bacon (again not that crap euro garbage), black pudding, toast.  Awesome.

You missed out mushrooms and fried bread!

he is just laying out the food chain.  There is a natural order to the world, and like it or not humans rest at the top.  Our biology is adaptive to both meat and vegetarian diets.

So, if somebody asks if meat-eating is wrong, my immediate reaction is no.  We rest at the top of the food chain so we have earned the right to CHOOSE what it is we can eat.

We are basically allowed to do everything you say.

What does morals have to do with anything?

Do you believe that anything is right as long as animals do it?

I voted no. Yes,there's other alternatives, but those alternatives just plain just. When anything vegan, taste as good as a mouth-watering steak are a burger, then let me know, then I'll get on board. How is being vegan a higher order of thought? There's nothing wrong with being on top of the food chain and eating other animals. Just like the wild. The it's nature excuse is a very legit point,in my opinion.

Do you believe that anything is right as long as it's found in the natural world?
