I put a 7. Not because I am not very happy, but because I know I am not content with where me and my family are.

Yes we have good paying jobs and rent out a nice 2 BR apartment with a full backyard and deck, but I won't be a 10 until I get a house (Which is what I have basically, just minus the upstairs) and have enough money to replace my car.

That or when my daughter no longer needs to go to daycare and I get to save myself $800/month.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

2004: 5
2003: 3
2002: 6

1997: 5
1996: 1
1995: 6

The rest too young to remember ;p

Edit: Life's been pretty shitty for me at least more than half of it but I look at the positives and move onward towards the future.

When I have a good year you seem to have a bad one and vice versa.

I'm sure most of you haven't really put much thought into the question or are even taking it seriously, but there's no reason the majority of these results shouldn't be at least a 7. If you have the free time and wealth to leisurely browse the internet on a video game forum, then you should be pretty happy with how lucky your life has been. But of course, there are some extremes like if a lot of your family members died, but even then, you still have plenty reason to be happy. I assume most of you get sufficient food, shelter, clothing, nutrients, a decent opportunity for education, a bed to sleep in at night, family, etc. Again, I understand the extremes, but that's not what's demonstrated in the poll.

With that said, my answer would be a 3/10 because I just poured cereal before realizing we had no more milk. Needless to say, I'm going to be stuck in chronic depression for the next few days.

That's quite a shallow post from you Jay. Wealth isn't everything, infact it's almost NOTHING. Perspectives of what is good and bad changes from person to person. There's no such thing as having a good day everyday, to have a good day, you need a bad day to compare it to. My family are a lot better off than they were 8 years ago, but I'm nowhere near as happy as I used to be.

With wealth comes food, shelter, clothing and all the other basic necessities of life (in massive abundance too). With your basic survival needs satisfied and no fear that that will never change, a person's scale of happiness should be at least halfway fulfilled (5/10). And then other things like education should really bump it up a few points imo.

10/10. I am getting married to the woman I love in December, I bought my first car, and I am working the way I want. I owe some money but I am sure I am going to do Well, and I praise the lord for that.

I heard Troll Whisperer is like the happiest dude on VGC

A few people beat me unfortunately. Now I feel miserable and full of resentment.

Anyway, as the excitement of my new life wears off my happiness could go down. Maybe it's because my origins were so shit that I appreciate my present.

No troll is too much for me to handle. I rehabilitate trolls, I train people. I am the Troll Whisperer.

Material wellbeing doesn't have a straight correlation with happiness.

A rich person can be an unhappy, miserable asshole and a poor person can be the happiest, most cheerful person on Earth.

Happiness is more about perception of what you have than about what you actually have. It's very subjective.
