This is a mutually beneficial move both for us as gamers and Nintendo as a game software company.
Very, very much looking forward to seeing what products EAD Tokyo brings out with all of those top-brass veterans from SEGA, Tecmo, Square, etc.

Seriously that is Texas flag?
I thought it was Retro saying something in the lines of "Viva La Revolución!"
(it looks awfully a lot as cuba's flag - at least at a first look :) )
Takashi Tezuka is the perfect man for the job. He will be a fine successor to Miyamoto as leader of EAD. If I'm not mistaken, the two are very good friends and regularly eat lunch together at the company.

vs
While they aren't super similar they do share some traits so I can understand why people would mix them up.
Would have been interesting if it had been the Cuban flag though.

I thought you might have gotten them confused. USA might ban Retro games if they were based in Cuba!!! Remember we still punish the Cubans with embargoes due to the missile crises that happened a long time ago. I didn't know Retro Studios was based in Austin myself till I looked it up. I actually live in Austin (grew up in Ohio). I knew there were some game studios in Austin such as Origin. I suppose Austin is a semi decent city for video game development. Doesn't top some other cities in USA but it has to be in the top 5.

I knew they were from Texas, but since that pic is from google street view, I thought that flag was from the former tenants, maybe a bunch of cuban lovers :)
Back when Metroid Prime won many GOTY awards people were really impressed by how a game like that, a Metroid game no less, could be made by a completely fresh developer... from texas!
That's more or less what EGM said, I remember it perfectly! They also said: It's like playing GOTY from 5 years into the future and also gave it perfect scores, game of the month and then Game of the year awards. Back then that was like saying it was a GOD GAME for me.
