just edited after your quote ...

I should say 'most enthusiastic hardcore pc gamer' would fit better ... not counting the causual gamers because they will stay 1080p and less for many more years.

but this will change if newer consoles with those resolution comes out or a bluray2 maybe. We will see it maybe not in the next 2 years like 1080p but I'm pretty sure in the next 4 years.

You forget the multi-display resolutions (all above 1080p) is tracked by a different category in Steam.

And there a lot of guys with multi-display.

yeah but "a lot" will be also maybe 5-10% and of those most will only use one as gaming monitor which they also use in 1080p then. i would say maybe 10% use above 1080p and some of them use 1200p which is below what he said first .

it's abviously something different if you talk about the super hardcore players like he said now but that was not what he said first.

yeah, but 90%+ of them are the 'hardcore' users :(

I also use a 27inch 1440p and a 32inch 1080p ... not optimal for gaming.

most of the time I only use 1 for gaming and the other for the browser and other stuff.

But my goal in the future is 3x30inch 1600p :)

I checked the GPU stats and you right... only 10-15% have high-end GPU (GPU have power to handle over 1920x1080)... but there are a lot of casual gamers in Steam (Intel HD Graphics 3000 is the most used GPU).

The hardcore gamer uses monitor with resolutions above 1080p.

2 million hardcore gamers??? I don't know but it's a great number.

Did anyone expect it to be?

I didn't. This is COD.

They aren't going to develop a 1080p version just for WiiU are they? They will do it perhaps next year or the year after.

Maybe if Nintendo moneyhatted them...

The BuShA owns all!

I don't think the Wii U could run BLOPS2 at 1080p without massive sacrifices in the engine performance. Has nothing to do with moneyhatting or not.

If you want 1080p BLOPS2 go get the PC version.

Not unexpected as they would be porting over most likely the 360 version to WiiU.

Also the term FullHD does mean 1080p native in some countries as that is the sticker they use on TVs to identify that your tv is 1080p native ready. So this was either marketing by Activision or bad use of the term.

In my county there are two terms: FullHD (1080p native) and HD Ready (up to 1080i native).

yep those are the exact same terms here.

wait ... which countries dont use this term ?

no idea, but it is opbvious some people in this thread seem to think there is a difference between FullHD and Native, so guessing the countries they are from.

No youve got it wrong. I am from a contry that uses the terms posted here.

However this term is used to state what a TV will play.

It does not mean the source its using to display the Full HD 1080p image is 1080p also.

As long as  a gam or movie can be displayed via upscaleing at 1080p it can have the 1080p display simble on the box.

Do not however think it means its original native resolution was 1080p.

You are missing the point. Activision originally said the game will be FullHD 1080p, Because of those terms associated with TVs people assumed they meant native 1080p.

If they originally said displays in 1080p then everyone would have assumed it is upscaled.

Activision said "Full HD".

If they didn't mean "Full HD", then it was a very poorly worded conference script.

Simple as that.

But FullHD from game developers has never meant Native. And people who buy a TV thats FullHD probably dont know anything about what a source outputs.

Lets be real too if the Wii U version of BLOPS2, probably the biggest 3rd party game of the year, was running in 1080p native only on the Wii U, Nintendo would've highlighted that over and over (and over) again during the Wii U event a few weeks ago.

Okay I'm lost. Because I'm not sure how much of a difference (graphically) a game when its upscaled 1080p vs native 1080p. Can someone please tell me?
