Forums - Nintendo - WiiU Games in 2013?

So what will the WiiU have after April 2013 when the launch window ends? I'm not really sure what the WiiU will have after games like Pikmin 3 and Wii Fit U, coming by this March hopefully. I don't think Bayonetta 2 has been annouced for the launch window. With that said this is what I think will be the titles in 2013?

The summer line up I think is coming is something like a Bayonetta 2 and maybe a Wii Fit U delay. Alittle core and casual mix like when they released Smash and Wii fit and mario kart so close. Ofcourse a couple more 3rd party titles like MH in the west and that Aliens game.

Fall may see some more 3rd party unannounced titles and maybe either a new Wii game or a Wii party game releaase like WiiU Play or WiiU Party. Right before the holiday Super Smash bros. 4.

Finish the year with 3D Mario alongside some 3rd party ports like RE6 and some other early release 360/PS3 games. With that also some on time 3rd party games with their 360/PS3 counterparts.

Next year (2014) will be the peak or take off with Retro's game in the Spring, WiiU Sports in the summer, Zelda in the fall, and Mario Kart U in the holidays.

@spurgeonryan Yes I know we probably won't know until like January or maybe even closer to March when they talk about they're financials. This is purely speculation, I think Metroid and Donkey Kong aren't coming til like 2015 though, like right after its peak in 2014 and alongside another 2d mario or 3d mario with a new Wii game or new Wii Music and Animal crossing U.

What we have so far is:

"Retro is hard at work in a awesome new project"
"Monolith's is working in a new project"
"Bayonetta 2"

But supposedly there's a new Nintendo direct in October, so maybe more will show

My list is a little different.

I believe all of the announced launch window titles will be stretched out till Summer. I'm thinking either Pikmin 3 or Project P will be delayed till May-july, alongside Wii Fit U. We'll probably see a new family title, possibly Mario Party U around August, Nintedogs HD (or Animal Crossing) in september and Mario Kart as their big fall title. Beyonetta 2 is a big maybe, but I'm leaning more towards early 2014.

I think Nintendo and 3rd party's realised that they were releasing some pretty strong titles way too close together, especially for launch window. It would have left a massive 6month drought between Q1 and fall 2013. I put Mario Kart as their big Winter title because as far as home consoles go, I don't think theres a bigger seller and of all of their big guns, it probably requires the least development time. Although games like Super smash bros may be ready by the fall, I think they'll save them till 2014.

So as an overview my expected line looks a bit more like this:

2013
Jan-April: Rayman Legends, Pikmin 3, Monster Hunter Ultimate

May-July: Project P, Wii fit U, Possibly the announcement of remastered HD wii/GC titles.

August-October: Mario Party U, Nintendogs HD

November: Mario Kart U

2014:

Beyonetta, Retro's Title, Super Smash Bros Brawl, something Original, 3D mario and a zelda reveal.

Retro game is most likely next year.

DK Country was 2010... no sane company takes 4 years to release a game... and Retro schedule is at most 3 years (Prime 3 - DK) - with metroid trilogy in the middle

DK was also unvealed at e3 and 5 months later released, which also eases any argument as to why their game isn't revealed yet.

It's going to by itself in the market for a whole year, PS4 and 720 will need a hell of a gimmick to catch up.

PS3 and X360 don't count anymore? Lots of multiplats and exclusives coming next year for the HD twins.

I'm pretty sure at least that Sonys overall ps3 line up for 2013 will overshadow the Wii U's.

Im pretty sure the WiiU's exclusives outshined the Ps3's line up this year.

You mean next year :p

In terms of exclusives I'm sure the Wii U will outshine all but add the 3rd party titles which are coming to ps3 and haven't yet been announced for the Wii U: Tomb Raider, DMC, Bioshock, MGS, GTA V to Sony's already strong line up: God of War, Last of Us, Beyond: 2 souls, Puppeteer and I think sony has the overall lead.

I'm expecting the Wii U current line up (most of which were once launch titles) to be stretched out till summer. I think either the Wonderful 100 or Pikimin 3 will be delayed till summer, alongside Wii Fit U. Theres no reason to release so many titles in Q1. Rayman, Monster Hunter and one of the above will be enough. I think we'll only see 2 new titles arriving in the later half, probably Mario Kart and something else (nintendogs U, Animal Crossing, Mario Party?)

I think 2014 will be their really strong year with Retro's Title, Super smash bros U, a new 3D mario, Beyonetta 2, something orginal and A Zelda reveal.

Plenty of those titles could come to the WiiU, what you have heard so far is just the launch line up. Not much from what they have for April and beyond. Please don't speculate, you will be more pessimistic and I will be more optimsissitic.

You yourself are speculating at what titles may/may not come to system. The fact is they're not announced and if we're looking purely at what has been announced then there is no clear winner. We do not know what either company's will reveal for the 2nd half of 2013, I personally prefer to speculate and I wasn't being pesimistic, just realist. Wish such a small Userbase it will be a mistake for Nintendo to have so many exclusives launched so close together. Anyways here are all the confirmed titles.

Wii U: Pikmin 3, Wonderful 101, Rayman legends

PS3: God of War, The last of Us, Pupeteer, beyond 2 souls.

No clear winner according to YOU. You were very far from realistic, you were naming a very PESSIMISTIC line -up.

"This is purely speculation" Please don't speculate.

I thought Bayonetta 2 was in the launch window? I thought that had been implied somewhere along the line...

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Nintendo won't announce whatever's after the launch window until after the turn of the new year.  Probably a Nintendo Direct in February to hold us over until E3.

Nintendo usually waits to announce holiday games until E3 the same year as they plan to release.  There are exceptions, but for the most part that is the case.  DKC Returns, Kirby Epic Yarn, New Super Mario Bros. Wii, etc.  I wouldn't expect Retro's Wii U/ 3DS game until holiday 2013 at the earliest.  Smash Bros will probably be finished before most people realize.  Starting full production this past summer means it's likely locked in as the big holiday 2014 game.

I doubt there is a Wii U Sports at all in development.  As for Mario Kart, that's probably mid-2014.

I thought that too, but now I think about it, I don't think that's the case.  I think they showed us the teaser just to let us know it exists.  Probably holiday 2013 or something like that.

I don't think we'll get this question answered until next year.

In the meantime, I have a ridiculous Wii backlog that I'll get to between once I'm done with my Wii U launch games. The ones I'm most looking forward to getting to are:

The Last Story (still sitting on my TV stand, unopened)
Super Mario Galaxy 2 (only played up to world 2...)
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (Hero Mode)

I also have these games that I haven't touched yet:

No More Heroes 2
A Boy and His Blob
Sky Crawlers
Sin and Punishment 2
Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicles
Mushroom Men

...and probably a few more.

If I can get at least knock out the first three before MoHun releases I'll be happy, but I doubt I will.
