Forums - General Discussion - Is the worship of God really necessary?

God is really awesome. It's just that you don't know Him because your sins separate you from God who is holy, righteous, and just. You owe God a huge debt for your porn watching, masturbating, cursing, blasphemy, unthankfulness, thefts, lying, fornications or whatever sins you've committed. But God paid your debt in full on the cross because He is merciful. It's your choice to believe and receive the payment for your debt so God can pardon you and the separation between you and God can be obliterated.

By the way, Abraham's sacrifice attempt of his son was a foreshadow to the ultimate sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ dying on the cross (but was resurrected 3 days later). The Bible has many foreshadows of the cross.

God doesn't need you to ''worship'' him. God doesn't need anything from mankind...

And worship isn't necessary, but acknowledgment and adherence to his message is (IMO)

True, he doesn't need us at all. But he need us to obey him in order to save us from hell (given that we are aware of his existence and has been properly tested).

We can save ourselves from heaven by adhering his messages, not by obeying and worshiping him and his deitic status

Well, as indicated by the fact that you ended your last post with "(IMO)", that is up for debate. But if that's what you believe, then that's great. I had a similar belief back when I was a Christian.

I don't consider myself a traditional christian. Im something of a deist-christian, as i follow only the actual messages said by Christ while my views on God are deistic.  I don't follow anything from the Old Testament, nor do i consider the Bible to be a complete God's word

Who does follow the Old Testament.

Romans 12:1-2 tells you what true worship is.

It's not entirely about worship in the way of songs and such, but devotion to God - living your life as a changed person, showing others what God means to you in your life. It says to present your body as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, as its an act of worship.

As for songs and the like, we sing about all kinds of things - sex, money, power, war, women, and anything else. Why not about God? It'd seem insane to think that we would sing songs about everything, then tell God "Nah, I'm not gonna write a song about you".

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Oh ok.

No, not societal necessity at least. On a personal level, well, that's up to individuals to decide in my opinion.

Moral code, societal rules, law and order and all other bases for a functioning human environment (in fact; some of the most inhumane nations and cultures the world has ever seen were/are highly religious) all exist outside of religion and always will. The need for a deity is a personal philosophical question and not a sociological one.
