I'm totally with you on this! I want my PS3 to last longer because I this way I can recoup the cost of it the most. Like you say, each new wave of software is better than the former and bring awesome and innovative experience (Dishonored, Tales of Xillia). Furthermore, PS3 and 360 still sell a lot and it would be costly for the manufacturers to replace them too quickly, not to mention the fact it will be easier to compete with WiiU by having large libraries and cheaper current-gen consoles.

And, above all, I want them to let some time time for VersusXIII to release XD

I'm happy with this gen, and not even considering picking up new hardware until the top franchises release their rehashed updates; Halo 5, FF15, GTA 6, GT 6 (or 7?) etc.

I think the limit has been reached for the 360 and PS3 though, but they're still advanced enough for them to stick around for another year or two, especially with The Last Guardian and Versus XIII still not out yet.

Its actually a 2 gens old console. Wii is 2 Gamcubes duct taped together. Wii U is 2 Wiis/4 Gamecubes with duct tape.

I don't think it's an immediate concern. I will say that I think games have pretty much reached a ceiling in terms of how far devs can push visuals on a technical level. Your comparisons work because for the most part, you compare early gen to late gen games. If you compare games released in the middle of the gen (Uncharted 2 vs Uncharted 3, Mass Effect 2 vs Mass Effect 3, Gears 2 vs Gears 3) the differences are minor. In many cases, they've had to cut something somewhere in order to put new effects or features in place, so in that respect, we need new consoles.

If you look at what games and modders are doing on PC with current gen tools, there's a mass of potential for next gen hardware.

I rarely early adopt anyways (PS2 rare exception) so if one came out it would be late 2015 before I considered buying one. In fact this may be the first generation I was completely satisfied with yet ready to move on when next gen comes from Sony and Microsoft (guess is late 2014 right now). Before the next gen would sneak up on me (with one exception being PS1/N64 gen as did not like that gen at all and was ready to move on by 1998).

I do not want next gen consoles, until the games I want to release. After that it would be fine for the next gen consoles to release.

How are consoles holding back PC gaming?

Doesn't PC have its own exclusives?  Answer: Yes it does.

Then where are the PC exclusive next gen softwere tech'd games that can't be done on console?  Answer:  DIABLO 3.

Developers will always want more power, more mechanics and different ways to use a system, they want more advances in AI, physics and other stuff and that's the main reason this new consoles need come out eventually. 

This have been a really long gen, and imo, the industry have kinda go stagnant (at least in the AAA games, the indie ones have done a great job) I want new stuff, I want new ideas, and having new ways to play in something I'm really looking forward to, and those new consoles might give me what I'm looking for, starting with the Wii U on November 18th.

I would be happy if it was still PS3, Xbox 360 5 years from now, they just don't seem old or incapable to me. Games look way better now than in 2006.

But I wish you could drive vehicles in black ops II, COD 3 looks so fun!
