Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime has admitted that he’s confident that Wii U will be able to fend off the next Xbox console and PlayStation 4. Fils-Aime also went on to say that Wii U will have a very long and prosperous life, and it’s going to be very well supported by third-party publishers.

“It’s based on having great graphics, it’s based on having a robust online execution,” he said. “We believe that this system is going to have a very long life, and it’s going to be very well supported by third-party publishers.”

“Once you talk about what that is [next Xbox and PlayStation4], we can probably fend it off.”

They'll need to get the Big 3rd party Games current/next gen bridge titles like Starwars 1313, Metal Gear: Ground Zero, Watchdogs and Bungie's "Desitny" before I believe this.

Thanks for posting all this. Its very informative. Its far too early to say what will happen. We don't know anything about the other consoles and we still don't know where every developer/publisher stands with wii u even.

For the first few months though third party support is looking great. Not only for nintendo standard either. I think that is the best start from third parties nintendo have ever had but it also looks better then 360 when that came out I think. Feel free to disagree but I do think 360's third party support started off worse than this.

No they won't. Only a handful of..."gamers of a certain type" want those games to begin with.

I'm honestly not looking foward to MG:GZ or Watchdogs. Starwars and Bungie's Destiny may have potential though. Then again, Bungies is partnered up with neo Blizzard, and they made Diablo 3....

Lets be honest. He has to say that. I would be concerned if he said soon as nextbox and PS4 launches we're in Shitsville. Still I cant wait for the Wii U.

Actually before wii nintendo made some of the most powerful consoles of the time. I agree about the online though. They still seem to be playing catch up in that area. I also have concerns with the basic bundle memory because although I am getting the premium set it could effect how dlc is presented later down the line. Sure I know you can slip in massive hard drives but 8gb will fill up incredibly fast for hd gaming.
