Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo controllers, what next?

Ok, so I might be getting a bit ahead of myself as the wii u is not even out yet, ever since i started gaming i've played with a different controller with each system i've had, starting with a joystick on the amstrad them moving to the mega drive controller then to ps1, ps2 is when i got bored, then came the wii which was a breath of fresh air for me, that's one thing I love about Nintendo is they offer you a new way to play every generation, my question is after the wii u game-pad where can Nintendo go from there? With the wii u game pad has Nintendo found perfection? where can you go from having a screen in your controller? Will Nintendo keep this control from now on? I don't mean to and no I shouldn't underestimate Nintendo, but i can't think what control they could make after this!

I love the Wiimote and Gamepad, but I'd rather have my Gamecube controller back personally.

Jokes aside, I can see Nintendo taking notes from what Sony is trying to do with the PS3 (and PS4) and Vita thing, and launch a handheld than will also be the controller of their next home console.

If today there are so many voices claiming that handhelds are dying and that phones are replacing them, imagine the market situation in 4 or 5 years. If the claims are true, then it would be smart to launch a handheld that's also the controller of your console. That way, everyone with a home console would also become a potential buyer of portable games, and at the same time the people who buy the new handheld could see their home console a more attractive purchase.

If they do that, then it will follow the steps of WiiU's controller, but with the ability to fold it to make it more portable.

Don't forget those screens will be 8k and glasses-free 3D. And have multi-touch.
