just want to add to the discussion.

vita can also do augmented reality. there is not much supported games for it though.

I think this says it best.  

For example, someone had shown me LBP2 running on both the PS3 and the Vita simultaneously via one game disc at the TGS 2011 conference.  That, and the article in the OP show that it's possible, but I find it peculiar that the most recent showing of LBP2 cross controller play at GDC 2012 didn't perform that way, instead showing simple shapes on the Vita while only the TV showed the full game, with the TV display being put on hold when the game switched to the Vita.  To reiterate d21lewis' COD question, while I'm sure the PS3 could output to the Vita in some form, could it maintain the HD image on the TV while outputting the Vita's own independent view and maintain 60fps with only one copy of the game?

Point being, I'm skeptical of PS3/Vita being able to perform at the same level in these regards as WiiU, which does them with ease and with only one copy of the game, and can also switch between TV and gamepad on the fly - all right out of the box - and all at a cheaper price to boot.

A gun and a knife can both be used for killing.
However, the knife can be used in many more ways than a gun but the gun will be the better tool to make the kill.

Don't bring a knife to a gunfight.

In Japan, the Vita costs 25,000 yen/30,000 yen (wifi/3G). The Wii U will cost 26,250 yen/31,500 yen (basic/premium). In other words they are almost the same price.(not to mention you still have to buy your Vita memory card) The ps3 is also 25,000 yen/30,000 yen for (250gb/500gb).

So you can play the games like that with the Wii U or you can fork out the same amount of money for a Vita and hope the game gets ported, assuming you have a ps3.

I sold my ps3 not too long ago and I have no plans to get a Vita (I have too many 3ds games as is!) I have my Wii U pre-ordered.

Your an adorable Nintendo fan, so my quarrels arent with you....but most people know the real reason why the PS3/Vita combo cant stand up against WiiU is because the Vita hasnt taken off sales wise. Thats pretty much it.



Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

False. What Sony is doing with vita they also could have been done with the PSP(Remote play ring a bell?), and the PSP has a pretty nice size install base.

The thing is that the setup is just not up to par. They can boast specs and possibilities all days but in the end, its no more than the Playstation HOME and M.A.G. Its something that is there so they can say their product can do it. Its more flare than function.
