Your criticsms were not based on any predictions. They have no relation the thread. They were just to undermine ethomaz's opinion. If you disagreed with ethomaz's prediction, that's fine. But you just want to inject your pessimism into this thread regardless of if it's relevant or not.

It should at least top GT1 sales, it probably wouldve already had Sony done more bundles with it WW at launch, which is why it'll probably never get to GT3 level.

Actually GT5 Sales are impressive versus GT3/4 considering the PS2 had more than double the current PS3 userbase. Add to that, the fact that GT3 was a launch PS2 title (Well soon after), whereas GT5 came out almost FOUR YEARS after PS3 launched. On these basis GT5 is a great success , even if it stopped selling tomorrow .

OT: it definitely will! polyphony have supported the game real well and sony have done a fantastic job of budget re-releases. The question is when..my guess is by end of next year and before launch of ps4

i think it will anytime because ps3 will sell even after ps4 release but i have absolutely no idea when. i don't really know how much the xl and academy edition pushed/will push the sales so no clue how much lower the sales will be next year and i also have no clue if we have a bundle (edit: ok didn't read in op we have lol) or if we will get a bundle which could push the sales very fast as long as it wouldn't be a digital download which i doubt^^

I really can not see why it should be not able to reach that goal. Gran Turismo games always has insane legs and continuo to sell as long as the console sell. And even when the pS4 release PS3 wont stop selling. Let the PS3 be another 3-4 years on the market and Gran Turismo 5 will have 10 m plus sales.

I'm actually glad you brought up this debate. With every weekly sales data I always see GT5 on the list and no too far down. New PS3 owners are still buying GT5, and since I doubt there will be a GT6 for PS3, GT5 gets all the sales.

However GT5 won't get the same environment to generate late life sales like GTAIV had. Wii U is coming out in only a month and I'm fairly certain at least Sony or MS will bring in an 8th gen console in 2013 (probably won't be Backward compatible like older Playstations either). So even if GT5 is matching GTAIV weekly sales now, doesn't mean it will hold up.

GTAIV managed 2 million sales between 100-200 weeks, I don't think GT5 can manage that when 200 weeks from now PS3 annual sales might only be 4-5 million units.

Still I won't condemn people for thinking GT5 will make 10 million. I think it has a great chance of beating the Gran Turismo record low of 9.36 (GT2).

However regardless of weather GT5 sells more then 9.36 or even 10 million units, does it matter? Every prior Gran Turismo game had its sales phased out by a sequal after 2-3 years of release (with the exception of GT4), and they all had a second GT game available on the platform. GT5 will not be getting these setbacks.
