You really can't say that English is not very poetic when some of the most famous poems and poets are in English and where written by people that had English as their native tounge.

"Famous" does not equal "best". They're only famous to us because we're primarily English speaking, which, as I said before, is a lousy excuse for liking it. If this world were primarily French speaking, for example, you can bet we'd know Molière better than Shakespeare. Even if you could justify the idea that poems in English are better (which, in my limited, but somewhat significant experience, they certainly aren't), that could still just be because of English's widespread-ness and not because the language is inherently beautiful in some way.

Most famous poems and poets due to merit... or British and then American cultural domination during the last two centuries? Some food for thought.

On topic... no German on the options? Fail.

On a more serious note, personally, talking about sound, Romance languages and Finnish are by far the best of them all. Isn't Finnish supposedly so beautiful Tolkien based the elven languages out of it? And vocabulary wise... I don't think there is a language with the level of cognitive expression and information clarity that would be desirable.

Also for what English lacks in poetry it makes up for in being very lyrical.

English is a bastard language.

As a Norwegian i have to say.....english

I love the verbal form of English, but I think our written system is one of the most inconsistent I've ever seen.

I really like the way Russian sounds (though I don't understand 99% of it) and the written system looks cool as well. I'm not sure how complicated either forms are...

Japanese would be awesome if they didn't have tens of thousands of Kanji someone had to memorize to be a fluent reader (same goes with Chinese...).

German is pretty cool.. I would pick Russian, English, and German as my top 3 favorite languages, but since I don't know Russian I can't really comment further on it.

Despite that, I still voted for Russian because they sound incredibly badass.

Most languages are. Very few have endured from sufficient antiquity to be considered "pure." Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Arabic, Farsi, and Hebrew might qualify.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Either Korean, Japanese, or French.

English, because it's God's language. (Starvin' Marvin can tell you that)
