We'll see if it works out for them. Their intent is to expand the appeal of the series; in a few months we'll be able to say if they're on that track.

It'll only take a few weeks for that..

If RE6 can't reach 5 million units by the end of the year, there's no way they're gonna ship 7 million in their lifetime.

Not at all. After 18 months on the market, RE5 had moved something like 6 million units - it's now sitting at just under 8. All indications to the contrary notwithstanding, it's a series that has shown itself to have some serious legs, even if the body of htose legs are down to the Gold Edition.

Yes, but it was released in March vs. October for this one. Therefore, I think sales are going to be far more frontloaded (at least through the end of year). That, and I wonder if Capcom's 7 million forecast is for the regular + gold editions, or just regular. Reason I mention this is that they've said 7 million would make it the best-selling title ever, when VGC has RE5 at ~8 million.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

im not to far in the game right now, but I like it a lot honestly. and I agree with he said.

Fans overstep their mark in my opinion, there's airing an opinion and being a fan but some people think this gives them the right to Run the game. NO It's up to the makers (key word there, MAKERS) to decide what to do. The fans are either to love it or lump it.

god bless the internets.

I think Capcom's own shipment data has RE5 at something like 5.8m, so VGC has the game way overtracked.

I'll gladly retract my statement if you can show me anything from Capcom in regards to this

I feel like boycotting this game. It would be akin to withholding sex from your spouse until you get what you want.

withhold sex to get sex doesn't seem like a good plan...

This'll prove to be an interesting test. Capcom hasn't exactly been trying to appease their fans for a while now.

It has a few ways that it can go. This is the first RE since 5 was released, which was also a rather divisive release. This'll be a fine tell tale as to the health of the series after that one was brought out. Sadly, we'll have to wait until 7 to be able to get decent data on how these releases are tracking fan wise, but the release numbers will be interesting to see. While I doubt we'll see a rise in sales, getting near equal to RE 5's launch will be a great initial gauge.

Not to mention the likely port(s).

Plus, from the article:

"Capcom expects to Resident Evil 6 to sell 7 million copies, becoming the publisher's best-selling title in its history."

RE6s main problems to me is it a co-op game and they disabled/removed all the good things about RE5s co-op.

In RE5 if I got a green herb in my inventory and I see a red herb on the floor, I naturally want to combine them, if my inventory is ful I either give the green herb to my partner so they can mix it or I give them another item to make room. In RE6 if my inventory full I am sod out of luck because no item swapping, if I want that red herb something is getting perma-deleted. In RE5 is low on ammo my partner could give me some, tough shit now, WTF is the point of co-op if going to do this.

The bosses are all made for one person too in RE6, RE5s where much better designed like the Uroboros monster where one player needs use a flamethrower to burn and make it reveal the weakspots while the other player shot them.

Seems Capcom listened to the retards who treated Sheva like a mule then complained when she died, and never had friends. RE6 completely destroyed the great co-op experience RE5 had.

The story is pretty bland too, RE5 was a meme factory thanks to the cheesy but entertaining story that the series has always had and RE5 kept. Doubt RE6 will have any.

Is lacking in other areas too, alternate costumes do not work in campaign for some reason, Mercenaries mode, the mode loads of people love, ships with only 3 maps (with 3 pre-order bonus maps). RE5 by comparison had 8 maps, RE4 had 4 maps.

Visually RE5 is a lot better too.

edit: I've said too a bit too much in this post.

That actually sounds really good to me, RE5 was a crap SP game, but the co-op was fantastic. Sounds to me like RE6 is the reverse which IMHO is good and bad, it seems like Capcom simply dont know how to do both at the same time. Im mostly a SP gamer becasue me and my friends have a life and we cant really get to togehter like that, so playing RE5 was a bore fest

Am I too late to bash Resident Evil 6? Just picked it up last night and it blows goat testicles.

When played as single player or coop...its equally frustrating. Its essentially one giant quick time event. Even as a movie its not appealing due to the rediculous story and events that take place in the game.

Gonna trade it in for some Xbox live points by the end of the week.
