This means that Nintendo will (likely) increase production after March 31st 2008, probably to 2.2 or 2.5 Million units per month. |
2.2 in march, and then 2.5 in late summer, early fall for the winter would be my guess |
Don't forget that it takes Nintendo 5 months to increase their Wii production once they decide to do so. So it doesn't make sense they'd make a contract to go to 2.2 million units in March (setting up that contract back in November) and then to 2.5 million units in late summer. It would make more sense for them to wait until February or March and then get into a contract to increase substantially or not at all.
If Nintendo manufactured their own consoles, I could see them tweaking smaller amounts. But they need to take up a significant amount of capacity if they want increased production.
