@wenlan
Yeah, you're right, the art style is quite similar to FFT, I love the style but i am wondering whether Sega fuck up again this time. I miss the old Sega very much, when it made games with passion and ambition. hope this game be great so that i can have an excuse to buy PS3

Looks great, might flop in sales but I'll be getting this shipped from the US so I can have it.

I my opinion there is too much confusion over the JAP market for the PS3. I reckon all the good selling JAP franchises on PS2 will sell just as well on PS3, even if it gets outsold horribly by the Wii.

Do you really think the people buying the Wii in Japan are going to mean lost sales to games like DMC4, FFXIII, MGS4 etc?

It won't be the people who buy the Wii that are causing the problem, it will be the people who don't buy a PS3 ...

Gran Turismo 4 sold (approximately) 125% as much as Gran Turismo 4: Prologue when it was released on the PS2, and it looks like Gran Turismo 5: Prologue will sell between 25% and 40% as well as Gran Turismo 4: Prologue, what is the likelyhood that Gran Turismo 5 will sell noticeably worse than Gran Turismo 4?

On its own it might be a difficult question to answer, but when you add the poor performance of Virtual Fighter 5, Everybody Loves Golf, Dynasty Warriors 6, and several other games in Japan it does meant that you will likely see lost sales.

Interesting howEverybody loves golf has around a 1/4 attatchment rate yet you consider it performing poorly. DW6's is just lower. I wouldnt class them poor performances, the PS3's install base just isnt that big at the moment.

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned for Sega. - Jason Lee, Mallrats.

Unless it's an established franchise, it doesn't sell in Japan

Help! I'm stuck in a forum signature!

LOL, when will sony fanboys learn, no killer app will ever save the ps3. A one month sales spike maybe, while still being outsold by the wii.

I love the art direction, with the pencil line visible he gameplay looks a little clunky to me though, a bit stiff. I'll follow this title, I'm interested.

Definitely agree with one of the posts on GT that this is what SF4 should have looked like (with a bit more of the brush work from the original trailer). Probably one of the best anime-transitioned to 3d looks I've ever seen. But no, it won't save the PS3, whoever said that Japan loves franchises is right, I don't recall many recent new IP's making a break through in Japan. I agree with ctk495 that the only thing that could save PS3 in japan is DQX, that's how big that franchise is there, but it won't come out on the PS3, DQ9 will sell too well in Japan alone for S-E to be stupid enough to pick anything other than a Nintendo Console (DS more than Wii though). I don't even think FFXIII will save PS3, make a mark yes, but turn the tide, highly unlikely, considering it's still at the very least 10 months (being very optimistic) away.

By the way, I find it hilarious that PS3 fanboys were ragging on Mass Effect for being a RPG with shooter elements (claiming it to be just a crappy shooter) and then making sure that this game is clearly defined as a SRPG... seriously, anyone else find that absurd?

I'll admit I used to rag on the 360 about shooters, but now it seems as if the ps3 is the one getting all the shooters. KZ2, R2, and Haze plus all the multiplats are all htiting in a single year. Give me some other games, because fps isn't my cup of tea.

However, this game, despite being somewhat shooter oriented, does look very interesting to me. I think I'd prefer it over Mass Effect, because I'm also not too fond of WRPGs. Mass Effect being a combination shooter and WRPG really turned me off, lol.

Too true makingmusic about Mass Effect, I was put off at the start because it was a WRPG (I never got into KOTOR), but with the lack of good JRPG's (there's Eternal sonata but that's about it) I was sort of forced into it. It choice in the end though, it's a great game.

I think you guys are forgetting what one game can do. I don't want to fight with Wii fanboys, but I think you guys are forgetting how bad the Wii sold before the release of Wii Fit and Galaxy. There was even a month were the PS3 sold better. November I think. So you see what one game can do for a console.

And that one game that will help the PS3 to compete with the Wi iis going to be MGS4. Why?
1. MGS is big in Japan, not FF big or DQ big but still big
2. It's going to be the first PS3 game which is really fabolous (normally)
3. MGS4 has almost no competition of other PS3 games when it's released.
4. The game is been in the top 5 of Famitsu Most Wanted for a very long time now.

Btw DMC4 is also going to move a lot of consoles, but DMC is not MGS big.
