Namco sold their 16% share to Nintendo later that year. They now own 94% of the company.

I like the 3DS and all, but honestly I'd rather just see them work on the Wii U. Star Fox U, Vanquish 2, new IP, whatever.
Bayonetta 3......D. Dat shitstorm.
Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

If they are for sale and I was Nintendo, I would buy them and then give them significant autonomy. Just let Kamiya and the crew make whatever games they want - anything they come up with would fill a niche that Nintendo doesn't cover.
This would be too good to be true though. :(

Who owns that remaining 6%?

Vanquish, MadWorld, and Infinite Space.
Though if PG makes a 3DS game, I think it would be a new IP.

Atlthough if they wanted to make a Metroid more along the lines of Other M without the poor design choices, it could be a pretty cool game. @Roma- Sadly, Platinum games owns very few of their IPs. Capcom still owns the rights to Okami and Viewtiful Joe, and Sega still owns the rights to Bayonetta. |
If Sega owns Bayonetta, why did Platinum had to look for a publisher for the game, finding it on Nintendo?
That makes me think that Bayonetta is owned by Platinum Games.
OT. Platinum is a very talented dev team and Nintendo would be wise to have them by their side, but that doesn't mean that they have to buy them. Having a good relationship and working together to get the best for both should be enough.
Please excuse my bad English.

They were largely Clover Studio back when it was part of Capcom. They made Viewtiful Joe, Okami and God Hand.
When they became Platinum Games, they started with Mad World. They also made Infinite Space on the DS, Bayonetta, Vanquish and Anarchy REigns on the PS3/X360. They are workign on Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance on the PS3/X360 as well as Bayonetta 2 and The Wonderful 101 on Wii U.

The remaining shares of Monolithsoft are owned by the directors of the company.
