Saw this over on Gaf

We're two generations removed from the GameCube now. That qualifies it as an old console. So when chatting with Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime last week, I had to ask: will GameCube games ever come to the Virtual Console?

"That is a great question," he said, smiling. "And personally I would love for that to happen, but we have nothing to announce right now."

Well, it's something I guess. I'd love to have Gamecube games on WiiU.

What I would love is being able to INSERT my GameCube discs into my Wii U for the system to recognize the fact that I own the game, and then giving me a *substantial* discount in purchasing the digital version of it.

Or, if that inserting idea wouldn't work, giving me some other way to verify I own the games so I could get a heavy discounted price when purchasing the digital versions too. (I would also appreciate it if Nintendo discounted their digital titles in general)

Sadly I know Nintendo isn't that cool. Oh well, a man can dream.

I'd be very happy if Gamecube games were $10, N64 were $8, SNES were $5, and NES were $3 or so.

Somewhere out there, there is a universe where that pricing structure is the real one.

inserting would never be allowed since you could get any discs from mates and pop them into your system and get the digital version for free or discounted, while it would seem like a crazy sound idea for a company to do, it just isn't possible because of the abuse such a system would suffer.

Metroid Prime Trilogie HD
Super Mario Sunshine HD

I enjoyed alot of games but these are the only games that I rly feel the need to replay and that I think would look gorgeous in HD. Also Mario Kart Double Dash would be a great downloadable game, no need for HD remaster on this one tho.

Edit: Also want to add Luigi's Mansion, F-zero GX and Pikmin1/2. Would all be great for the virtual console, no need for HD remaster but would be nice tho :P

well it's obvious it will happen sooner rather than later

I'm assuming it will based on the fact that the WiiU will not have GC ports. It would be nice though if you can play them on the gamepad.

You're going to have one hell of a hard time getting Metroid Prime Trilogy from the GC era.
