I wouldn't pay more than 170€ for a 160gb nowadays ...

the 320gb version is 210€ which is roughly 170pounds ... on amazon ...

Also, define dominate.  The Wii came close to domination a few times but didnt make it.  The 360 and PS3 have never and will never dominate.

 

I expect the PS3 and 360 to end the year pretty much level after the 360 beats the PS3 over the holidays.   Buzz will surround the WiiU.  The PS3 stands to lose out a lot in Japan at the end of the year, the 360 sells nothing there so it has nothing to lose.

To the bolded, it doesn't under any cirumcstances mean anything like that unless used in sarcasm.  If you used that word you meant it would dominate the competition, i.e. tower above in sales figures, overshadow the competition.  If you've used the wrong word or don't believe you you've used it correctly then just admit you're wrong and change your OP. 

I personally read it as you were being a little bit over zealous and excited for what the new model would do to sales figures and was making a overly exagerrated claim as it's pretty clear to me there is very little chance of the PS3 dominating the 360 in the holidays if you follow the correct meaning of the word.

Killer deals as killing your wallet and the playstation franchise or a 12gb for 150€ and the 500gb for 250€ ?

Otherwise I would just get an old slim ...

A new console usually sells a lot compared to how much a game pushes software. I think this should do well.

Also it surprisingly looks good and not as ugly as it did before in the leaked pictures.

I knew this kind of treads will be pop up after the PS3 SS announced. But does it really matter when the life cycle of this generation is coming to an end? I think PS3 will surpass XBOX360 later this year or earlier next year although I am a 360 fan, but it is OK. My eyes will be on Wii U, next XBOX and PS4. And I don't think the industry really cares who will be the 2nd place except stupid fan boys.

Well you can't compare discounted store prices to official prices. I'm sure there will be some killer deals this holiday for the new model

Thats what people are used to paying at EVERY store now and as someone else has already pointed out, its actually much less if you are prepared to shop sround (I was being kind)

Lets be frank, its a poor deal.  The product is suspect (juggling installs will be tiresome) and its more expensive.  Its a terrible deal for the consumer.

I dont understand how anyone can see this iteration as good

There a lot of games that don't require installs. I am sure this will be good for them.

PS+ users won't benefit from this though. Which is why there is another sku for them.

12 GB is still enough to play GT 5 installed.

I like the 12gb ... its gives you the option to decide if thats enough for you or not ...
but the upgrade prices are sick ... 90€ for a ?160gb? hdd oO
so buying the 500gb would be cheaper then buying the 12gb version and upgrade it with 'original' sony parts.

I dont know how much the brackets are, but if they are not too expensive its a good deal ...

So if GT5 is installed and you want to play it regularly (dipping in and out as people do with that typoe of game), but at the same time you are playing other bigger games?  you are screwed?

Right. And 360 5gb isn't? Just like there are people who don't mind the 5gb 360, there are people who don't play GT 5 or simply buy a ps3 for COD and Fifa. Different people, different tastes/needs.
