I've used a phone with a Retina Display and I've used a Galaxy S3. 'Retina Display' is just a fancy term apple made up to make it seem fancier than it is.

lol it's not.

Yes, it is. Super Amoled Plus screens are just as good and even better in some areas. Plus, the S3 has a larger screen, so I think it would be hard to go back to a smaller one from a larger one.

Large screen is a minus and I prefer the Retina Display... I used both.

I hate that it's all going so easy for Apple. They are far too huge.

From almost dead to crush everything in less than a decade. It's unfair.

Meanwhile MS is struggling. Surface will fail and Win Phone 8 will fail. No one simply cares.

I'm pretty much certain that Surface will NOT fail. It will be huge

It won't. The product itself looks great but the name is weak and people dislike Mirosoft all over the world, it's a fact. And it will be expensive, more than 500 Dollars probably.

It will, and I'd be willing to bet in it.

"people dislike Microsoft all over the world" - that is simply not true... The Mircosoft brand is huge ALL OVER THE WORLD

Also, 300-800 dollars is not expensive for a top of the range tablet

Do you honestly believe the cheapest Surface will cost only 300 Dollars? No, it's impossible. 500 Dollars minimum.

What does surface have to do with it?  It isnt the be all and end all for MS? Lots of manufacturers will release Windows8 tablets.  You do know this... right?  Sony, Samsung, Lenovo, Ho, Acer, Asus etc etc.  all developing tablets around Windows8.

Windows8 as a tablet interface will dominate.  There really is no debate about that tbh.

lol, such optimism.

What is Microsoft's presence right now in the smartphone and tablet market? Around 1% and 0% respectively.

They are newcomers into a well established and highly competitive market. Apple OS and Android already conquered all the mind share. Surface doesn't even have a release date yet. Meanwhile in the phone business Nokia is a dinosaur taking its last breaths, Windows phone is finished before it even started.

Asus, Lenovo and Samsung developing tablets around Windows 8 yes, but that doesn't mean they will push and market them. These guys already have broad product portfolios in all categories. They're making Windows tablets as a niche segment.

And about the Metro interface, truth is most people think it looks ugly. They feel treated as they are morons by these huge square icons. I personally kinda like the Metro style but among the populace it's simply not a cool interface.

Hush. There is NO debate about that! I mean, the actual product isn't even out yet, so there's nothing of any real substance that one can take into account to come to that hasty conclusion. But still, there really is no debate that it will dominate!

Ok?

Also worth mentioning that the S3 does not have a Super AMOLED Plus screen. It went with a Pentile AMOLED.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Still, there are no facts that say Retina display>Super Amoled Plus. That's what you seemed to imply with your post about it at least.

Galaxy S3 uses a Pentile screen, not a Super AMOLED Plus.

Samsung's reasoning for going with a Pentile was "longevity".

The differences in colors, especially when gaming, shows big time between my 4S and my fiances Galaxy S3.

Still like the big screen though.

agreed. The only way win8 tablets will not dominate is if the world stops doing office jobs.

Retina display have better natural-looking colors, better outdoor and wide-angle visibility IMO.

The Super AMOLED Plus only have better contrasts.

IMO.

It isn't just about the hardware alone, i do agree with that. It is possible to argue that the Iphone can be matched by many phones. However, what put me off previously was Android. I agree with others that Andoroid is a total mess. Its all over the place. I cant stand it, its terrible!!

Windows8 has changed this. So I can now go for a equivalent (perhaps better) UI/OS and also choose from phones from other manufacturers that will, without any question, surpass the iphone5 soon if they haven't already. The Nokia 920 is better in many ways.

How am I wrong? Hit me.

Please don't mention Apps, its a red herring. Windows has 100,000 apps already and this is going to explode once windows 8 and tablets launch.

I agree.

Windows Phone have potential and a nice UI but for now iOS is still better. My only problem with 920 is the big display .

Android is terrbile.

lol what do you mean?

What you are saying is that Sony, Samsung, HP, Lebovo, Acer, Asus, DELL etc etc etc are designing and manufacturing Windows8 tablets just for the hell of it, they expect them to fail and are doing just because...?

Get a grip.  Your bias is overwhelmingly silly.  Didn't you used to a 360 fan way back?  I guess reformed smokers are the worst arent they.

Seriously, no matter of bias. Sony, Samsung, Levono, Asus they all are famous for very varied product portfolios and they're good at making small quantities of a certain model profitable. It was obvious that all of them would offer Win 8 tablets.

I am sure there were several manufacturers who made Win Phone 7 smartphone models too, and just look at those dismal sales.

Samsung, LG, Toshiba and HP all made HD DVD players, but remember what happened to that format?

All these guys you listed making a Windows tablet is not a sign of Surface becoming successful.

That's kind of ironic.  You're pointing finger at his apparent bias, while saying that WP8 as a tablet interface will dominate (and that it's not even debatable) based on speculation alone.  Everyone on this site and their grandmas know that you've always been a vocal defender of all that is Microsoft...

So yeah, I think it's really hypocritical of you to say he's biased in any way.
