Forums - Nintendo - Junichi Masuda hints at core Pokemon U Title on the Horizon! What do you actually want from a Pokemon game now that we know what the Wii U can do?

omg that would be SOOOO cool!!

Around the Network

I want a Pokemon with the game being online.

EVERYTHING ONLINE. Unlimited amount of people.

Play like the normal Pokemon.

Fuse all the worlds into one. Make it 2d instead of 3d if that would save money.

This would probably cost 8-10 million dollars at most so do that everyone can shut up about a MMO and everyone is happy.

It seems that director of Pokemon Black 2 and White 2 (and composer) Junichi Masuda has expressed interest in one kind of Pokemon game, over another kind on the Wii U. Here’s an excerpt where in traditional Japanese fashion, the developer intends to make things crystal clear.

Photography wasn’t as widely spread in those days,” he says. “Now everyone has a camera and can take photos whenever they want. Releasing it [Pokemon Snap] in that same form wouldn’t be as interesting these days. Maybe there’s a new idea, though.” But perhaps they have something else in mind for the Wii U. “It would be very cool if you could play Black 2 and White 2 on the Wii U,Masuda says with a laugh just long enough to make it unclear if he was dropping a hint or joking completely.

How disconcerting responses like these can be. Still, Wii U’s interface seems perfect for an RPG Pokemon game. Home consoles seem entirely meant for Pokemon RPG HD period. Contrary to what Nintendo suggested in the past, a game like that would sell plentiful and thrive on the Wii U if divested with the effort that such a project entails.

Anyone want a Pokemon game that looks like Xenoblade? I cannot be the only one.

I didn't get realy excited until I imagined Pokemon in Xenoblade-like settings...

I'm imagining looking for rare pokemon on the Bionis' Leg...

Amazing...

Imagine if there was a Pokemon Xenoblade crossover in the works...

That would be pretty insane...

Have a nice day...

Pokemon MMO. Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Unova, the entire world, plus new areas, made larger and built to accommodate a few thousand people. Let there literally be just one of each legendary per server, but make it so you can only keep it for a few days before it escapes or something. It would be so amazing, it'd be the first MMO I've ever paid for.

Too much to ask?

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

"Ok, girl's trapped in the elevator, and the power's off.  I swear, if a zombie comes around the next corner..."

A Pokemon MMO genuinely has a chance at becoming the biggest MMO ever imo.

Hole lee shit.

I don't know how many times I've said I want a 3D open world pokemon game on the Wii U. Think Skyrim + pokemon...

my body is so fucking ready for this

I'm less needy. I just want a Stadium-style game with a single-player quest ala Colliseum. You know, something that will supplement the DS games, but not render them obsolete.

Do not want. Pokemon is a handheld franchise and should stay one.

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

He actually said the opposite for MMO Pokémon

Masuda on how often he hears requests from fans or the press about the possibility of a Pokémon MMO…

“In terms of how often we get asked, I’m on Twitter and I get asked every once in a while, but it’s really not very often – from fans at least. I get the feeling that maybe not all of our fans are really interested in such an online game. It’s more so in interviews with the media and whatnot that I get asked about online games, like ‘Are you guys going to make an online version of Pokémon?’ In terms of that, when you are playing remotely with someone very far away, obviously online, using the Internet like that is a really great option and it works great for that purpose, but with the Pokémon games, we really like to focus on face-to-face communication, and in-person communication, playing with people in the same space. One example might be like people from around the world come to the Olympics and have this huge event and that’s really exciting. While online play is a feature we also like and want to have in the games, encouraging this in-person face-to-face communication is something we want to continue to promote in our games.”

I completely agree... I really don't understand this MMO idea, and outside the internet it's not that big, apparently
